Condolences
I was so sad to hear of John’s passing….he was a great person and always was quick with a smile and a friendly word.
He will be missed ….
Tracy, Shawn and Family,
Your dad was my colleague, boss and good friend. John had a passion and zest for life and people that was both endearing and infectious. I have so many stories and fond memories of working for John, Andy and Glenn at Explorer. John’s commitment to both his work family and his home family were never compromised, and his passion for both was admirable and amazing. He used to like to tell us that he was the boss at work, but Linda was the boss at home!
John,
You will always be a top 10 in my heart and memories, and I regret that I never told you how much I loved you for always picking up the tab! May you rest in peace, knowing that you were loved and admired by so many. Your memory will forever put a smile on my face.
Jim and I would like to extend our sincere condolences to all of Uncle Johns family. To know John was to love him. My favourite dance partner where I specifically remember dancing on a boat, under the bridge in Vancouver as Aunt Linda watched on laughing. Remember who he was, larger than life and easy to love.
I have known John for many years through work and socially. At work, he could be all business, but outside of the business it was like hanging out with the coolest kid in the playground. It’s difficult to comprehend that he has left us so soon. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues. My deepest sympathies and condolences.
Dear Tracy, Shawn, Lynda and family,
My sincere condolences. I know how much John will truly be missed by you all.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.
On behalf of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration, we wish the family and friends of John our condolences. His vision and dedication has left a lasting impression on the industry that will never be forgotten. His many friends and colleagues at CAPLA wish you the best during this difficult time.
John and Qbyte Land provided me my first avenue into oil and gas.
I respect John immensely, but what I like most, was his passion for his work, and has family.
Although I have not spoken with John for a few years, he often enters my thoughts and conversations.
John will be missed. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace great leader and friend.
Dear Tracy, Shawn, Lynda and family,
It has been awhile since we have been in touch with John from Q byte days and since worked with Linda in oil and gas. My heart aches for you and your family during this difficult and sorrowful time. Our deepest sympathy.

We are deeply sorry for your loss. John was a very special person, who you enjoyed being in his company and talking with. Our deepest condolences.
As the current CAPL President I can recall lots of great memories of John. Business was brisk in those days and DIS and QByte’s support of the land fraternity meant everything to us then and John was there to see my “almost” hole in one at Cottonwood during a CAPL Golf Tourney in the 80’s. A hearty laugh, a twinkle in his eye and a desire to win. Thanks John.
Sorry to hear this news. Our prayers are with the family.
My condolences for the loss of a fine man. He was loved, respected, and admired.
Our deepest condolences, and much love to you, Tracy, Shawn, Lynda and family. We will forever hold the most wonderful memories of John in our hearts… and smile fondly remembering his deep booming voice regaling stories to the younger generations. Godspeed John
The years I worked with John were some of the best. Aside from work, he was a good friend as well. His focus was always about his family at home and the one at Qbyte. Safe journey my friend. You will be missed.
My heart is broken for you. John was a beauty of a man. I loved working with him at Explorer Sofware – he built a team that truly became my family away from South Africa. My deepest condolences and love to you all.
Shawn, Tracy and families
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your dad. John was my business partner for 35 years, 10 with D.l.S. Consultants and 25 years running our own company along with Andy.
Although a lot of our discussions were work related, he could never stop talking about his family whom he cherished. Know now that he is back with your mom.
John was a good friend and we shared many a good time through the years. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
RIP JP
I was so very fortunate to have met John back in 1977 and we became instant friends working side by side for the next forty years, first at Loram then DIS Consultants and finally at Qbyte Land / Explorer Software. John was like a big lovable brother to me who wore his heart on his sleeve, he worked hard played even harder and loved to share stories about his family. Tracy and Shawn, your dad was a great guy who will be truly missed by us all. RIP John
Dear Tracy & Shawn:
We are so sorry to hear about your Dad. I guess the last time we saw him was at his 70th birthday party. We certainly had some good times with your parents back in the old Queensland days. Our thoughts are with all of you.
John was a special person who was always willing to help when you needed it. I spent many years working through D.I.S. with John, Andy and Glenn and always loved to be in his company whether it’s was through work related projects or having beers on a Friday night. You will be missed but not forgotten.
R.I.P John
Sincere condolences to the Pullar Family and Lynda
We met John at Indian Springs Golf Club in Indio and a friendship started quickly. We had a lot in common with all of us having lived in Calgary. We spent many a Saturday afternoon or evening at the club laughing, talking about sports, especially hockey, while having a couple of drinks. John was so kind and never missed an opportunity to ask how our boys were doing and what they were up to. We will never forget John’s hearty laugh, his love of life and his love for Lynda. He will be missed dearly. RIP John
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of “uncle” John. From secret handshakes to family trips on the houseboat and to the lake building sandcastles there isn’t a childhood memory of mine that doesn’t include him. When we both moved to Okotoks I was so happy to be able to see him around town and will truly miss seeing him at the local bars and restaurants. I will cherish my memories of the last time I spoke with him at the Fathers Day Dawgs game. Tracy and Shawn, he was always so proud of you both and beamed when he spoke about his grandchildren. I am so sorry for you loss.
Rest In Peace uncle John. You will forever be in my heart.
We’re so sorry for your loss. Your father was an amazing man with such a wonderful and generous spirit.
The years we spent with John and crew ar QByte will always be cherished memories of a man who did what he said he would do and did it with style and pizazz that few could match. I will always remember the first scotch with lime John and I shared (and joked about for years) at the landmans conference in Kananaskis and QByte Land was concieved over a few of those concoctions. It is so sad he is gone way too soon for all. He will be missed by all.
Tracy, Shawn, Lynda and families,
Our sincere condolences. We fondly remember the fun times with Mon Oncle! Thinking of you all in this difficult time. Love you!
Tracy, Shawn, Lynda & families,
Our love and prayers are still with you all. We are so sorry to see him go and will miss him a lot. The world was a better place with John in it. He was a terrific boss and a rare and wonderful friend. We have many, many happy memories of all our times together. I was trying to remember any bad memories or harsh words that I heard him say about anyone but I can’t think of one. I shall forever count him as my dearest friend.
