Condolences
When My Dad Roy Vance and I went to the games we always looked for Wally sitting by the truck so we could stop and chat before we went to our seats.
My sympathy to your family. Roy and Wally will be taking Hockey together again.

Entering the Saddledome for a Hitmen game in the early years of the team, we would always stop to buy a program. Game after game, the same tall, friendly gentleman would be there selling them from the program stand. He recognized people and was always friendly and happy and it wasn't long before we began talking. That's how I met and got to know Wally. Year after year we exchanged greetings, and chatted about this and that and shared a joke or talked about the team and the games. Wally clearly loved hockey and cared about the Hitmen. When they stopped making and selling programs I was sad i wouldnt be seeing Wally. Lucky for me, he became a seated fan just a few rows above us allowing more time to visit. Seeing him on the ice on Remembrance Day, i asked him about his military service and discovered the amazing career he had. I enjoyed his stories and talking with him, sitting on the steps beside his seat and hearing stories of his amazing life. Always fun and interesting. So sad to know Wally is gone but very glad i got to know him and caĺl him friend. My condolences to his family. He will be missed.
I had the pleasure to get to know Wally and work with him when we worked with the flames and Hitmen. Wally was always so kind and loving he encouraged me with everything I did and couldn't wait to hear what my next cadet adventures were. I will never forget the warm hugs he gave and the cheerleader Wally was for me. I'm so proud to have gotten to know him.
We got to know Wally and Murna at Camp Takhini in Whitehorse YK.
Pete and Wally played hockey together which they enjoyed very much.
Our paths again crossed in Calgary. Wally was a generous man with his
time, he will be missed. Our thoughts are with the family at this time.
My sincerest condolences to Aunt Murna and Family. Although I had not seen Uncle Walter and family since I was young and they lived in Barrie, ON, my memories of Uncle Walter involve lots of laughter and joking around.
Thanks for the memories.
Love Lisa Sharik
