Obituary of Barry Wayne MOFFITT

January 5, 1946 – Regina, Saskatchewan
August 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our father Barry Moffitt, of Calgary, AB on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the age of 74 years.

Barry was born in Regina, SK, on January 5, 1946. He joined Transair as a pilot in 1969 and was affectionately known as Captain Barry. His flying career spanned over thirty years and took him all over the world.  Among his favourite destinations were Hong Kong, Tokyo & Sydney. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1982. Barry was a proud Calgarian and volunteered with the Calgary Stampede Caravan Committee.  He was known for his big smile and witty sense of humor.  During his years on the committee he became a much-loved member of the Caravan family and made many life-long friends. Barry loved playing golf and cheering on the Flames and Stampeders. He also had a passion for thoroughbred horses and loved putting a bet (or seven) on the ponies.  He thoroughly loved spoiling his poodles TJ and Squeak.   

Barry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Stuart of Calgary, AB; son Richard (Stacey) of Airdrie, AB; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Evan, of Airdrie, AB. He is also survived by his sister Lorraine (Frank) of Regina, SK, niece Melissa, nephews, Mark and Trent; and many friends. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Theresa and Joseph; and sister and brother-in-law Elaine and William. 

A Private Family Burial will take place and a Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held at a later date once gathering restrictions have been lifted.
