It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gael Bonertz, of Aldersyde, AB, on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was a great source of pride and joy to him.

Besides his loving wife, Maureen, of fifty-five years, Gael is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Brian of Edmonton, AB, Carrie and Rod Bust of Cardston, AB; son Shane Bonertz of Lloydminster, AB, grandchildren, Ashley Bust, Tyler (Jamie) Bust, and Shinaya Gamache; great-grandchildren, Bryce Bust, Jaylynn Bust, and Oakley Marshall. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Dennis Hawthorne of McLellan, AB; sister-in-law Vernelle Bonertz of Valleyview, AB, brother-in-law Ryan Peterson of Fairview, AB, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gael was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Islay; brother Larry Bonertz, and sister Nola Peterson 

A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church (958 Christie Avenue, Pincher Creek, AB) on Friday, September 4, 2020. A Public Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery (Township Rd 44, Pincher Creek No. 9, AB).
