Obituary of Agnes (Nettie) DYCK (nee Rempel)

April 19, 1932 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
August 30, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Agnes (Nettie) Dyck, beloved wife of the late Frank Dyck, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 88 years.

Nettie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on April 19, 1932. She grew up on the farm in southern Alberta, the second youngest of a large Mennonite family.  Nettie graduated from the Coaldale Bible School where she met her beloved Frank.  They were married on October 23, 1955 and enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage before Frank passed away on October 2, 2013.  Frank and Nettie spent their last twenty-five years together in ministry overseas building churches and bible colleges, teaching and encouraging others and distributing bibles.

Nettie loved music and no matter what was happening throughout her life, she always had a song.  She loved to play the guitar, autoharp and piano and also enjoyed classical music and singing hymns.  She was particularly fond of the fact that all seven children took piano lessons and then took them herself, as well as, teaching others.

Family was her priority and she also loved to serve others.  Nettie will be most remembered for her warm smile, positive attitude, encouraging words and hospitality.

One of Nettie’s favourite passages of scripture was Psalm 27, which she memorized and quoted often.  She was an active and involved member of the church all her life, most recently of Highland MB Church in Calgary.

Nettie is survived by her seven children, Amy (Don) Harris, Esther (James) Krahn, Joy (Ren) Klassen, Lydia (Ken) Warkentin, David (Ann-Marie) Dyck, Frann Mitchell, Christine Voth (Ed Loewen); as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nettie was predeceased by Frank (2013) and her son-in-law Dawson (Lydia) Harms (1993).

A Private Family Service and Interment will be held.
