Condolences
So saddened to hear of Arlene's passing. She was a special friend (almost another daughter) to my entire family for many years. We have lost touch over the last few years, but she was always in our thoughts and memories are so vivid of many good times. Her girls must be hurting but they too will have good memories of so many get-to-gethers and hopefully they will get some solice from these..Girls, please call if I can help in any way - she was so proud of both of you. Say a special hello and hugs to my guys - they too were so special in all our get-to-gethers - Heaven is a wonderful place. Love to your family Helen Holder
My most enduring memory of Arlene is her smile; it's impossible to think of her without it. We went through public school together from grades 3 through 12, with Schuh and Shand often seated together in alphabetical order. We became closer friends after I joined Klaas's band, the Cavaliers. When we left Medicine Hat to seek our fortunes in Calgary she was a stalwart presence through all our ups and down, always with us and always for us. Her unfailing good cheer and steadfast loyalty made friends of everyone she met. Arlene's passing leaves an aching void. Deepest sympathies to Rhonda, Rennay, Karon and the family.
Dear Rhonda and Rennay and families, I am so sorry to hear of Arlene’s passing. I am overwhelmed with precious memories of times spent with your family, and especially with “Lene”. From hotel babysitting of Rhonda at 4 days old, to backyard parties, stampede breakfasts, Santa At the Holder’s, working (and playing) at Black Gold, overnight trips to Hawaii, Mondays at the Tradewinds and ChiChis, camping, picnicking, partying, birthdays, weddings, celebrations of life, Arizona, golfing, laughing and crying, shared friends and friendships that time did not diminish, and mostly thoughts of our love and friendship with each other. With tears streaming down my face I am reliving these happy times in my mind and I know that Arlene is looking down at all of us, her friends and family with that engaging smile that was “Lene”. We will forever be grateful for having known her.
Love always Brenda (Holder) and Jeff Gilbert
