Obituary of Donald (Don) Henry VARGA

April 5, 1955 – Melfort, Saskatchewan
October 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep regret that the family of Donald Henry Varga, share of his passing on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the age of 65 years.

Don (Donny) was born in Melfort, SK on April 5, 1955 to parents, Helen Elizabeth and Joseph Alex Varga. He grew up on the family farm near St. Brieux. Don eventually moved to Calgary, AB to join the family framing business and begin his career and passion as a framer. It was here, that he discovered his natural love and talent for creating and building amazing things. In the mid-seventies he started a family with former wife Melanie Baxter and became a father to two adoring children.

Don lived life in a way that taught many to enjoy every moment and to always have fun. He had a very generous heart filled with an immeasurable amount of love. Almost twenty years ago, Dad found the love of his life in Sandy. His best times have been spent on golf courses with friends and family, in horseshoe pits and around campfires full of laughter and love, poolside in Palm Springs, and simply anywhere with his beloved partner and wife Sandra (Sandy) Merry and his children, family and loved ones. Don was known and loved for his good natured spirit, his incredible wit and charm and his mischievous look in his eyes when he was up to something clever.

Don is survived by his wife Sandy, his daughter Kari-Lynn Varga (Ben), and his son Donald Joseph (DJ) Varga (Cynthia); his siblings, Francis (Donna), Jim (Jo-Ann), George (Debby), Ann (Denise), and John. Don is also survived by countless nieces and nephews, as well as their children and families. He will join his parents, Helen and Joe, his brother Joe, and sister Marie to Rest in Peace.
