Condolences
Dear Marion, Michael, Andrew, Shannon and Families
How does one summarize what a good neighbour and great person Hans was. He was one of the first people I met when we moved into the neighbourhood many, many years ago. He was always ready to lend a hand and give advice about things like lawnmowers, car batteries and such! He and Marion were always that extra set of eyes watching the house when nobody was home.
He always teased me about eating donuts at Tim Hortons and if I was coming home from somewhere he would say “were you out eating donuts again?” He and Marion could always give the rest of us a history as to what our neighbourhood looked like back in the early days. It’s hard to mention Hans without including Marion as she was always by his side.
Maggie and I sure miss seeing Hans walking Beau as we usually met on our morning dog walks.
Hans was an irreplaceable part of our little corner of the street and he will be missed forever.
Rest in Peace Hans…
Sincerely,
Carol
Dear Aunt Marion, Michael, Andrew, Shannon and families,
You are in my thoughts and I so wish I could be there today with all of you. Words are not enough to capture the true spirit of Uncle Hans but he will live on in our hearts and cherished memories.
Love, Sherry
Thank you for the telephone call Marion about Hans passing away. Our family want to express our sincere condolences at this time.
The fall of 1969 is when I first met both Hans and Marion it was when I started dating Marion's cousin Diane MacLean. I remember when I met Marion she was warm, loving and charming while Hans was friendly but cautious. I could sense from the eye to eye contact he was giving me the once over making sure my intentions were honourable. I am sure Hans also gave Duane the same once over when he starting dating Shannon with his steely blue eyes.
As time passed and after socializing on many family gatherings I got to admire Hans as a caring and loving husband who was bold, wise, frank, upfront and had a great sense of humour.
Hans was fiercely proud of his three children Michael, Andrew and Shannon and he revelled in they individual successes.
I always admired Hans straight ahead no b.s. personality who was as honest as the day is long.
Both he and Marion were the best of friends in their 64 years of marriage. Hans was loved, cherished and respected by all the people he touched! He will be dearly missed and will be remembered fondly.
Sincerely,
Stan Sakamoto

Will forever miss Grandpa! Will never forget the time he drove Grandma and I out and helped pick out Jiggs, when I was in junior high. Something I'll never forget! Love you Grandpa!

My Uncle Hans....
His Mother's Son with the shared most beautiful blue eyes. His sister's strength in shared memories of one of the most challenging times in history. My Mother's big brother Hans was comfort and strength then and always. Their journey taught all of us the importance of family being there for each other. He gifted me with the excitement of bringing our Germany family together in Guelph. For that and all the memories I will be forever grateful. I will always remember in all the excitement he took the time in a sea of adults to check in with me one on one with every visit. He made me feel special and important! For everyone in Calgary my heart and thoughts are with you. His voice is echoing in my ear like soft music. I hope you hear it too. I'm sure he's saying how much he loved you all. xoxo
Dear Opa,
I always admired your strength and was so proud to call you my Opa. I know my dad was very proud of you too. You were strong but also had so much love for your family. I have always adored your relationship with grandma, both so caring and thoughtful towards each other. You were never the loudest in the room at our family get-togethers, but your kind and loving presence was always felt. You’ll be forever missed and I’ll always hold you close to my heart.
Love,
Nicole

We just spoke with Alice this morning and we learned of the passing of Hans.
We are so sorry for your loss Marion. Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you, praying for you, and grieving with you.
Big hugs from the both of us,
Bruce and Dominique
Sending our deepest sympathy to Marion and her family. We have been blessed to call the two of them our neighbours across the alley for the past 20 years. They have treated the two of us like “their other kids” as Marion has called us for years.
Hans was always out in his garage tinkering with the radio on. He’d be out there or on the deck and was always up for a chat.
If I couldn’t find my husband he’d be out in the alley shooting the breeze with Hans or they’d be in each others garages.
Hans will be truly missed, the twinkle he’d get in his eyes when he laughed will forever be etched in our hearts.
May heaven have a garage for him to tinker in , a warm cheap beer to sip along with a jukebox to play top 40 hits...forever in our hearts .
Love,
Terri & Alain Ernzer

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this difficult time. Remember him going for his walks with the dog and stopping to talk and waiting for his phone to ring wondering where he was.
