Obituary of Karen Theresa SHEPPARD

February 2, 1958 – Weston, Ontario
October 13, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Karen Sheppard, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in her 62nd year, following a short battle with cancer. . 

Karen lived most of her life in the Toronto area then relocated to Calgary, AB in 2003 to begin a new chapter of her life. Karen married the love of her life, Mike Sheppard in 1988. Karen loved to travel and enjoyed attending live music events. She travelled often and especially liked to go to tropical destinations. Karen’s most memorable vacation was when she traveled to Europe with her closest friend. One of Karen’s favourite artists was Jon Bon Jovi, she attended his concerts several times.

Karen’s strength came from being a confident, independent and honest woman. Her family and friends were always in her heart and most important in her life. Karen will be most remembered for her loyalty and support for those she loved, her keen wit and uproarious laughter.

Karen is survived by her sister Kim DaSilva of Dundalk, ON, brothers and sister-in-law, Paul and Phyllis MacIntyre of Orangeville, ON, Dean MacIntyre of Brampton, ON and Todd MacIntyre of Lloydminster, AB. She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Karen was predeceased by her husband Mike Sheppard, her parents, Joan and Roy MacIntyre; and her sister Adele Arneson. 

A small Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Karen will be laid to rest alongside Mike, following a second memorial at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Rexdale, ON at a later date.
