Condolences
Although we are not able to be with you physically as you celebrate Jim's life, know that we are in spirit as we lift you up in pray and love.

I met Jim, when Kimberly first started working at our store, WICKER LAND PATIO.
He was like a papa bear, checking to make sure that mama bear was in a good situation at her work place. It was nice to see a concerned and caring husband.

When Jim, Kim and the boy’s moved to Bracewood crescent they have always been very friendly and helpful neighbors. Jim was available along with his sons in emergencies when Garry had accidents and needed to be helped or moved. He was a pall bearer at Garry’s funeral. I really loved his sense of humour he was always a delight to talk to. Jim always told me that whenever I needed help with anything just to call I am going to miss him very much

I met Jim shortly after I moved here , I am often working in the front yard and Jim would always drop over for a chat occasionally bringing a cold beverage and or other intoxicant we would share jokes and he would tell me of his golfing feats. I’m really happy that we were able to drop over and watch a little hockey in August with him and actually see the Flames win a playoff game I’m going to miss him a lot.
We have countless wonderful memories of Jim. Angela, Shawna, Steve and Chris have all been positively affected by his wonderful nature, goofy personality and loving kindness. Whenever Angela called in to talk to her mom Shawna Jim always had something witty to say, bringing lots of giggles and warm fuzzies to both Angela and Shawna. Shawna has many memories of Jim over the past 25 + years, one including going to fairmont bc to the cabin and skiing with him and his wife Kim, deb and Rolly, he always had coffee on in the morning and served a great breakfast, the funny thing that happened was Steve losing his hat on the chair lift that he just bought, Jim was the first one to get off the chairlift to save Steve’s hat, never found it though. Another memory of Steve’s and Shawnas was at the Raymond cabin in sylvan Jim passing out on the front lawn by the lake looking as red as a lobster once he woke up. The Raymond family would like to give our condolences to Kim and family may he Rest In Peace, he will always be remembered.
Dear Kim, Derek, and Shane,
As long time neighbours we witnessed Jim's good nature and generosity as he cleared the snow from our sidewalk or stopped for a visit at the mailbox.
It was a privilege to be in the audience when Jim received the Doug Johnson White Hat Award for exceptional service and to hear of the acts of kindness that earned him the respect and admiration of his customers, co-workers, and the Calgary White Hat community.
We will miss him and extend our deepest condolences to you.

Knowing Jim and Kim for many years, there are so many memories, the ones that stick out most in my mind are the years of going to the football games and the after game parties. Also the many times I was able to golf with Jim, Roy and Wayne and occasionally Dan. The ribbing they all gave one another when a poor shot was made. One just had to join in making sarcastic remarks. I will miss Jim's witty humor
After working with Jim for 28 years I have many stories, fond memories, smiles and laughs. SO MANY smiles and laughs. My favorite recent memory was watching Jim bounce down the stairs at the Jubilee to get to the stage for his White Hat award. People in the crowd were yelling ‘Checker Jim’! The people yelling weren’t even from Checker! It was a great night. We were all so proud of him. I loved Jim and I will miss him dearly. Love and hugs Kim, Derek and Shane.
I met Jim through my sister Valerie many year ago.
We were invited to their house with my sister and her husband. I knew Kim as I met her many times before.
What I remember most about Jim was how he had welcomed me to their home and made me feel very comfortable. We had fun that night and I left thinking what a great guy Kim had there. You could see that they were meant for each other. Sad to hear he is gone RIP Jim

When we first moved to Calgary from Newfoundland back in 1997 and bought our first home, Jim and Kim lived across the street from us. One saturday night they were having a party and saw us on our front steps and invited us over. Well needless to say we had a great time and instantly became best friends from that day forward. I have so many awesome memories of Jim and what a great fun person he was to be around, "no seriously"..(Jim use to say that alot). I have a smile on my face right now as i think back to all the great times. Jim and i also shared the same birthday but let me make it clear that he was two years older than me as i always reminded him...Oh Jim, i was so hoping to get to Calgary next April to see you but unfortunately heaven needed another great soul. You will be dearly missed my friend and my thoughts and prayers goes out to Kim and the boys. RIP my friend!!

Dear Kim and family;
I had the pleasure of working with Jim on School Transportation at Checker. I remember Jim as a supportive and encouraging guy who loved to make everyone laugh. He had an exceptional memory, a generous heart and took great pleasure in helping others. He touched my life, I miss him and I will never forget him. He always held his family in the highest regard and it was clear how much he loved you all. My deepest condolences for your great loss!

One of my favourite recent memories of Jim was one night I received an email to call him, once I seen that email I couldn’t stop laughing, I didn’t even realize he knew my email. He tried to send a text but ended up emailing me. I called him and cracked old people jokes because who emails now a days? I also remember one of our Christmas party’s he bought he a few shots of patron and we both had to work the next morning and I stumbled threw the door the next morning (actually tripped) and Jim was the one that saw and bugged me the whole day. He was one of the people who made it worth it to show up to work everyday and actually look forward to it. My deepest condolences to his family, he made an impact on so many people.
