Dear Maggie and family, Eileen and I were deeply saddened to hear of Alex’s passing. He was a true gentleman and a terrific colleague. Alex introduced me to hot and sour soup and our group Friday lunches were legendary. I enjoyed chatting to him about the promises of retirement and sharing stories of cruises. Dr Chan taught me everything I know about GI oncology. He is an amazing person, ohysician and human being. I will always remember the Tuesday morning he didn’t come to rounds. We all knew something was wrong. I will never for get him and have always thought of him fondly. I speak of his teaching weekly. An amazing man. I’m sorry for your loss. There are really no words to describe him.
