October 19, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Donald Edward McIntyre of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the age of 76 years.

Don was extremely devoted to Edwyna, Jason and Nancy; there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. Every single person in his family came first, always. Any time, day or night, he opened his heart and home, touching the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He made everyone feel comfortable and special.

Don was a highly respected Master Electrician, who was a mentor to many and always willing to help friends.

Don's infectious laugh made everyone else laugh along with him. Whether it be in person, on the phone or on Facebook, there was never a shortage of one-liners that we all looked forward to brighten our day. He could walk into a room full of people that he had never met in his life and have them all laughing in minutes. If you were looking for a good story, Don had one for any situation.

Everyone felt like he was their best friend. Don had so much love for animals; there wasn’t an animal that he came across that didn’t gravitate to him...especially Maria.

Don was very well read and loved to discuss current events and politics. There was no room for debate when it came to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Calgary Flames.

Don loved traveling with his family and experiencing different cultures, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Caribbean and the US, especially Maui. He also picked up Spanish faster than anyone else could.

Don had a profound impact on everyone he knew and we are all better people because of him.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of fifty-two years, Edwyna, son Jason (Gloria); grandchildren, Jadon and Karina; and his daughter Nancy. Don’s memory will be held tightly by his siblings, Elsie, Richard (Zoe), Ben (Lois), Darlene (Morris), twin brother Ronald (Sue), Irene McIntyre and Bill Goudie; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his parents, William Andrew and Ida Rosella McIntyre and siblings, Margaret, Lorne, and Dale and his brother-in-law Johnny Vetterli.
