Condolences
I am a friend of Monika’s and had the pleasure of knowing her Dad. I saw Bernie mostly at school concerts where he was so happy and so proud to see his grandkids perform. Bernie always had a smile and a great sense of humour. We also have the fond memory of the time Bernie and Jennie stopped by our family cabin on their way to Creston while Monika and the boys were staying with us. We enjoyed their visit very much and appreciated Bernie’s kind praises for the coffee.
Our deepest sympathy to Monika, Jennie and family.
Love Gabriella and family
My family and Monika’s have been together from the beginning. My parents and Monika’s came from similar backgrounds and shared similar values. I remember Bernie’s voice and his “dad jokes”, and how we shared the same birthday, which he always reminded me about. Perhaps most especially how wonderful a father he was to Monika and by extension to the friend group. One of life’s greatest accomplishments is to raise a good human being. Monika is one of the best people I know and Bernie will be smiling down on her proud of her strength and the love she learned from her papa. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to Monika, her mom and family. Love from Michele, Todd, Anna, Clara, Rosemarie and family and Helmut and Audrey.
So sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. We appreciated his kind nature and his sense of humor whenever we saw him at The Horizon Village dinners and coffee hours. He will be missed.

I am an old friend from Germany.
Bernd and I have always stayed in contact over the decades that he lived in Canada.
When Bernd was still living in Winnipeg with his family, we visited him and his family.
It was a wonderful, interesting couple of weeks.
I will never forget my friend Bernd and I will keep an honorable memory for him.
I wish Jennie and Monika and their families all the best and lots of strength for the future.
Goodbye my dear friend.
Hans from Cologne
I am a dear friend of Monika and we grew up together. He was always asking us to be smart. I know he was very proud that he had taught Monika to speak in German which I was grateful for when Monika and I visited Germany together. My deepest sympathy to the family.
