Obituary of Bernd (Bernie) Juergen ISBACH

July 16, 1942 – Cologne, Germany
October 18, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta    

Bernd (Bernie) Juergen Isbach, beloved husband of Jennie Isbach (nee Storozuk), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Bernie was born in Cologne, Germany, on July 16, 1942. Growing up, he was affectionately nicknamed ‘Dotz’ by his family.  He loved nature and traveling and shared many adventures with his childhood friend, Hans.  Bernie graduated as an architect and his adventures continued when he immigrated to Canada in 1958.  He made his way to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he met the love of his life, Jennie. Bernie and Jennie were married in 1970 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2020.   

In addition to working as an architect, Bernie owned and operated several businesses in Winnipeg in small engine repair and real estate. Bernie and Jennie moved to Calgary in 2008 to be near their daughter and family.  He always loved to chat and share stories with everyone and was quick with a joke and a sparkling smile.  Bernie was extremely close with his daughter, Monika, and loved to spend time with her and his grandchildren, Alexander and Oliver, whom he adored.

Besides his loving wife Jennie, Bernie is survived by his daughter Monika (Richard) and two grandchildren, Alexander and Oliver, in Calgary, AB.

Bernie is also survived by his two brothers, Wulf (Lenore) in Winnipeg and Roman in Winnipeg; his sister-in-law Sandy in Winnipeg, his uncle Hans Jurgen (Elke) from Belleville, Ontario, his nephews, Heinz, Bryan, Michael, John, and Joey, as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends. 

Bernie was predeceased by his mother, Auguste, and father, Bernhard, as well as his older brother Heinz.
