Condolences
To the family of Grant
We were so saddened to hear(just today) of the passing of Grant. We have lived down the street for 28 years, chatted with him often, and thought of him as such a lovely man. He was so funny and kind, always smiling, always waving as we passed by his home. We had many conversations “swearing”at the city and the “great” work they did in front of his home, and the bill they handed him in the end. The last few months, we saw the house change, and thought that he was either vacationing or sold it. We never imagined that he had passed.
He was just the nicest guy! I am gut wrenched knowing he passed, let alone so quickly and so young. While we realize there was nothing we could have done, we feel bad not knowing, and not expressing our deepest sympathy to you. You need to know that Grant touched many people, in many ways. He had a big personality, you couldn’t help but like him! He will be missed by so many, but no more than by those he loved the most! He was taken far too soon, and much too young. Our thoughts are with you.
To all of Grant's family and loved ones,
My sincerest condolences to all of you. I heard very recently about the news and I am sad because it is always too soon to lose someone. I worked with Grant at Suncor and will always remember his joyful spirit, contagious laughter, and big heart. We shared many laughs together and a few teachable moments where I came to understand what an amazing life he lived. Grant shared some of his stories with me about his experiences in law enforcement and I was inspired by his humbleness and professional manner.
Rest in peace, Grant. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
To all of Grant's family, our greatest of sympathy. I worked with Grant on Calgary Drug Section for over 10 years in the 80's and 90's, i think we both spent the same number years, different dates. We shared many experiences, had a lot of laughs, drinks, typical Narcs for the time period, it was fun then. Also took Grant out once to help drag out my elk, with a quad for extra help. He was a good friend and a good worker on the job. Liked by everyone. We all have our time, unfortunately Grant was taken too soon. Grant, RIP brother

We have only just learned of Grant's passing. Both Greg and I worked with Grant at Suncor. We were privileged to get to know the man you had a big heart and showed everyone tremendous respect. He had a great sense of humor and love of life. He will be sadly missed by us both. Their are no words to express his loss.
I am so sorry to hear this news. Whenever I think of Grant, I think of a man filled with joy and full of life. Every interaction I had with Grant left me with a smile on my face and often telling someone else how great of a man he was. He always looked out for me during higher risk situations and I always knew I would be protected when he was around. He will be missed and his memories will live on. My deepest sympathies.
Dear Samantha, Liam, Sue and Mason, we are heartsick over your unspeakable loss. What an exceptional, stellar gentleman Grant was. Accomplishing so much in his life as a father, son, cop, colleague, partner and friend to many. We remember fondly his energy and big smile, so smart, tough yet a sweet man. Be strong and honor his memory so that it transcends on this earthly place. The Kozak family
Grant was one of my favourite people to work with, which is interesting since the only times we worked together were during crisis situations! His calmness, kindness and reassuring presence got me through a lot of tough times and I know others felt the same. Later, just before I left work on an extended trip overseas, he spent time giving me tips about what to watch for and how to stay safe in some of the more dangerous places I would be going. My mom was very grateful!! At some point later on, I volunteered at a festival with a prosecutor who had worked with Grant in his RCMP days...this lawyer couldn’t stop telling stories full of admiration for Grant and all of them seemed to revolve around Grant’s patience, friendliness, and commitment. Grant will certainly be missed.
I am very sad to hear of Grant’s passing. My heart goes out to the family and friends. I feel very fortunate to have known and worked with Grant, at Suncor. Everyone who knew Grant knows that he was a kind soul who cared dearly for others. I had the opportunity to go on a work trip to South Korea with him. Life is too short, we need to enjoy every day.
Rest In Peace my friend

Sue I'm so sorry to hear that Grant passed away - sometimes this life just isn't fair and my heart is heavy with sorrow.
I recall how supportive he was at dinner theatre cheering you on as you performed; a true proud partner - I know he really cared for you. I also enjoyed seeing you both at work as you lunched or walked the +15 from time to time. Grant and I worked together on a number of investigations and he was selfless in sharing his talents. I admired Grant and how he placed his whole self into our conversations. I can hear his "Hello Pamela!" in my heart today and will miss him dearly. My wish for you is that you are able to take comfort in the happy memories as you grieve.
I worked with Grant and I owe him so much for teaching me so much. He was such a kind amazing man willing to help others. Passionate about life and anything he did. Will miss him!.
I am shocked and disheartened to hear of Grants passing. We were pit partners at Depot for 6 months. He was definitely one of the good ones. My condolences to his family. Gone to soon.
Sue and Mason
We are so sorry for your loss, it is not fair, and all we can say is "May your memories of Grant be blessings".
We can tell how loved Grant is by the heartfelt way you all talked about him and by the over 100 people who attended his celebration. Thank you for sharing this sad time with us and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

I'll always remember Grant with a big smile on his face, sneaking up to 43W to see Sue. His smile was contagious. My heart goes out to you all ❤ Kathy Sim
Sue, Samantha and Liam,
I am very sorry for your loss. Grant was an incredible man, who loved you dearly. He was a man with such a big heart, full of life, and generosity. I reflect back on all the conversations we had about family. How proud he was of you kids and all that you have accomplished so far in your young lives. Every inch of his office at Suncor had pictures of you two. The only other free spaces in his office were covered off by random pairs of reading glasses! I can't even recall how many times I found him wearing a pair of glasses on his head, while wearing another pair properly, and then another pair in his shirt pocket, with his shirt unbuttoned halfway down. If every parent was like Grant, this world would be a much better place.
Grant was one of the hardest working investigators I have seen. He was a tremendous mentor for me. We worked quite well together, he helped mentor me on corporate investigations, while I helped him with technology, navigating social media, and downloading songs on his I-phone so he could listen on the train. I am so grateful that he gave me an opportunity to work at Suncor with him. I cherish the time, the work, and all the laughs we had.
Sue, Grant was so happy to have found you in his life. You brought such joy to his life, plain and simple. He loved you with all his of his big heart.
Grant made everyone better, he will be dearly missed. May he now rest in peace free from pain.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I sit beside Sue at work and my memories of Grant are how he would visit Sue at her desk, make her laugh, send her flowers, and always put a big smile on her face. The love they shared was beautiful. I'm sorry for your loss and sending you love during this difficult time.
Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolence. I am very sad to hear of Grant's death. We worked together for 13 years in the Calgary Drug Section. Grant was one of the hardest working members, as well as, one of the most genuine and decent. I've always and will continue to hold him in high regard.
Sorry about your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. We have fond memories of Grant. He always put his kids first, a real role model for all of us.
Even though Grant and I barely crossed paths in the RCMP, it was my pleasure to spend 10 years working with my friend and colleague at Suncor. Grant tackled all jobs and tasks without complaint and was the very definition of professionalism and integrity. He was the ultimate team player and he made my life better.
It’s the man outside of work that I admired the most. Grant loved his children Samantha and Liam, his partner Sue, his fishing in Florida, driving his Corvette and sadly the Dallas Cowboys :) He was a big hearted people person and loved to share a good laugh and we had plenty of those together...that’s the man I miss...
I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved working with Grant - he made even the most tiring and complicated work fun. He was so thoughtful and caring - he went out of his way to help me stay safe on a vacation to Russia in 2018. He asked me which cities I was going to be visiting and then he pulled security information for me for every city so that I could be prepared, keep myself safe, and know what to do and who to contact in an emergency. Grant was a wonderful man and he will be missed by many who had the pleasure of working with him. My deepest sympathies go to his family and to you Sue. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
I had a chance to share messages in late September with Grant while I was visiting my daughter and family in Calgary.
I transferred in to CDS in 1987 and worked with Grant during my time there and later on when I transferred back to Edmonton Drugs, and returns to K Div after my Cancer Recovery for Court and Undercover Jobs.
A big loss for his family and all the great crew and network we were part of in the good old days.
My Condolences to family and all of the great friends he had
Bob Aitken.
I was deeply saddened to hear of Grant's sudden passing. I met Grant over 20 years ago while we worked together on joint projects RCMP/CBSA. Boy did we have fun!! Some very tense moments with some projects, but I knew I could trust Grant in a tight moment. We were on 24/7...He had my 6. He always checked in with me even after he retired from RCMP. Your constant smile and caring heart and soul will be missed...See you on the other side Buddy. BSO Ms Y...
Our family was saddened by Grant’s passing.
Over the years Grant liked staying in touch no matter what. He enjoyed laughing about old times.
Grant packed in a lot of living in his 61 years. He was so proud of his family. He talked often about their trips to Florida. He loved the fishing there. He was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He rarely missed a game. Grant was a competitor.
Since RCMP Training, to now, Grant was known as a hard worker, dedicated to the core and a great Investigator. Grant was also a good Mentor and Supervisor.
Away from work Grant was a good friend and neighbor. He was helpful to others in times of need.
Grant was very compassionate to our sister, when she fought and recovered from her own battles with cancer in Calgary.
Grant also extended his support to our parents and other family members that arrived to Calgary to help out.
Our whole family is forever grateful to Grant.
Grant will always be remembered.
We offer our condolences to Grant’s many family members and friends that shared in his life. May he Rest In Peace.
Dave, Darcia, and the Light family;
My sincerest condolences to all those who knew and loved Grant.
I had the absolute pleasure of working with Grant for all of his years at Suncor and know the deep love he had for his family and his incredible work ethic. I will always remember the kind smile that was a permanent fixture he always carried and will raise a glass to celebrate and toast a wonderful man who will be sorely missed.
My sincere condolences to you on the loss of Grant. Grant was a true gem, a great colleague and kind, compassionate man. May you find peace in the fond memories you have in this difficult time. Take care, Jill Power

Samantha and Liam,
We are so sorry for the loss of your Dad. He was such a nice man. We had lots of nice talks over the years, mostly about you two!
He will be greatly missed.
RIP Grant

Lyn, Gordon, Lara and Katey
Samantha, Liam and Family, I am so saddened for the loss of your Father. Grant was such a wonderful person, he will live on in our memories forever. My heartfelt Condolences. Wendy Langille pN2GQ
You will be missed my friend. As I tip my glass in your honour I think about our last conversation, you always put others before yourself. You were a class act and will be missed dearly. Until we meet again.
I am very saddened to hear about Grant's passing. He and I worked together at Suncor and spent many early mornings chatting about kids, his place in Florida and how envious I was about the tan he always seemed to have. My deepest condolences to his children (he was so proud!) and Sue. My heart breaks for you all. RIP, Grant. You will be missed.
Grant was a great friend and a great man. He always brought humour to the table and was a true professional at the same time. We were friends for many years. Knowing this was going to happen he still was able to muster the energy and everything else to get together with The Coffee Gang just 2 weeks beforehand. We had many laughs even though we knew. It was a very special time and Grant gave that to all of us as a gift. We all will miss him dearly. We send our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to each and everyone in his family and all the others close to him. He will be missed. Jim MESSNER
Grant left us far too soon. He was a great dad and an all-around stand-up guy. I feel privileged to have known him.
My sympathies.
Our thoughts are with family, as we learn that Grant passed far too soon.. Grant will be missed by all his former colleagues at Suncor - a true professional and gentleman.
Any one who was lucky enough to get to know Grant, truly received a gift. He was kind, thoughtful and trustworthy. I worked with Grant at Suncor and was a new Mom to twins - Grant loved his kids so much and shared with me so many pieces of parenting advice in those years. All of which I appreciated so very much. My thoughts and condolences go out to Samantha,
-Liam and Sue.
Our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Grant, who passed much too soon. He was an incredible man who was respected by all who knew him.
Keeping you in our prayers,
Mark and Ruth Little
and the entire Suncor leadership team
I was so very sorry to hear this news. Grant was one of the "good ones" who has left us far too soon. For anyone that knew him, it wasn't hard to see his deep commitment, integrity and professionalism. On a personal level, we'll all miss his smile and willingness to share a laugh. Sincere condolences.
Deepest condolences to Sue, Mason, Samantha and Liam. We are so saddened for your loss. We only knew Grant briefly, but in an instant, we felt his kindness and loving spirit. We will always have happy memories of Grant, brightened by the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.
