Obituary of Iain “Grant” MACPHEE

November 17, 1958 – Johnstone, Scotland

November 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Grant Macphee passed away in the early morning of Thursday, November 12, 2020, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 61 years.

Grant was born on November 17, 1958, in Johnstone, Scotland. He and his family immigrated to Canada when he was around two years old and grew up in Burlington, ON. At about the age of eighteen, Grant joined the RCMP where he had a very successful thirty-year career that brought him to Bassano, AB, Sundre, AB, and finally Calgary, AB, where he lived the rest of his life. Grant then went on a career with Suncor Energy for another twelve years before finally retiring.

Grant's dream was to spend his retirement down in Florida where many of his happiest days were spent. Everyone who knew Grant knew that his kids were his biggest passion and that he was a very proud, loving father.

Grant was and will continue to be known as a hardworking, selfless, loving man who cared deeply for the well-being of all who encountered him. His joyous energy filled the hearts of many and never failed to make those around him smile.

He was a caring friend, father, husband, son, and brother. Life will never be the same without Grant, and he will be painfully missed by his friends, family, and loved ones.

Grant is survived by his sister Lynn Ruttan, his two children Samantha Macphee and Liam Macphee; and his partner Sue Juke, along with her son Mason Juke. Grant was predeceased by his mother Anne Macphee (nee Gallagher) and his father Raynor Macphee.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will be live-streaming the service online. Family and friends are invited to view the service below, or by following this link https://vimeo.com/event/465613.
