We left our mother land behind
Saying goodbye for one last time
Our families crying all in pain
When will we set eyes on loved ones again
My husband left in search of a better life
but without his son and without his wife
With his brother he would go
to a new country far from home
A new home in France he did find
far away from the loved ones we would leave behind
7 years we were away
with many heartaches along the way
We lost a daughter and a son
just as our lives had just begun
With two other daughters we would be blessed
and now our family was at rest
The time to leave again was drawing near
this beautiful town that was so dear
We all left crying and in pain
knowing that we would never see our new friends again
A new world awaited us so far away
along with our family this time to stay
One last time we would go back home
to say goodbye to loved ones and our old home
A new life we all did find
where we taught our children to be loving and kind
Our strong family values passed down to us
from the loved ones we left behind
We cried in pain every day
to have left you all on that painful day
57 years have passed on by
and now it’s time to say goodbye
My husband passed 6 years ago
and now it’s time for me to say
I made great memories along the way
Goodbye to all my family and friends
stay strong and true until the very end
