Condolences
Dear Margaret and family,
I was so sorry and shocked to hear of Keith's passing. I came to know Keith when I was a board member of Calgary 55 Plus Association. He was always a kind, friendly, caring person with a great sense of humor and ready to be of help whenever and wherever he was needed. And yes, he always had a quick wit with his play on words.
After the 55 Plus meetings some of the 55 plus members went down to have lunch together in the Coop lunch room. Keith often joined us and that is where we got to know each other a little more. Keith was full of positive ideas and suggestions and always cheerful and positive in his approach to any problem or discussion. He will be missed by us all.
With deepest sympathy, Mary Martens
Marilyn & Family:
What an unbelievable shock it was to hear of Keith's death. I only became aware of it recently through a 55+ Newsletter. I am so sorry for the loss to you and your family.
I came to know Keith when he participated in many Masters Swim Meets. He excelled in the breaststroke and broke many records over the years. I was a member of another swim club in Calgary, but Keith always had an encouraging word for all the swimmers, no matter which group they were affiliated with.
He was instrumental in organizing the 55+ swim group, and kept us all enthused with his upbeat attitude and helpful instruction. To me, he was the ultimate athlete - dedicated, hard-working, but enjoying everything associated with his sport. He will be missed by the whole swimming fraternity, as well as all those who knew him.
Mr. Shaw. I am so saddened to hear of your passing. You were my grade 4 teacher when we were bussed to Chinook Elementary. I
remember your reading challenge in class in which we had to read a book per week. One day I came up and showed you that I had read Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which I took from my parents' bookcase. You looked at me and asked if I knew what it was about. "Of course," I answered. " It's about seagulls flying about." Now in my later years I knew there were meanings beyond what I was able to understand at that age. One thing I am sure of now is that Jonathan was blessed because he met the other side and came out stronger. So did you Mr. Shaw. You were strong to begin with and now you soar high above. Thank you for encouraging my love of reading.
Lee, Margaret Fawcett, and myself are very saddened to hear of Keith's passing. Know that the family is in our thoughts and prayers. Glenn and Lee Werth
As a mutual friend of our stated "We have lost a good one!" So sorry for Marilyn and the family in the loss of Keith. We have known Keith for more than 40 years and our families also friends since then after starting our teaching careers together. A great golf buddy, a humorist, a family man extraordinaire, a talented actor and singer, a good Christian and a truly valued friend---he wore so many "hats" in his life time and he wore them well! He will be missed tremendously! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family! Johann and Marie Sushelnitsky
We are saddened by the passing of our dear friend Keith who was our jovial swim companion. His absence will greatly be felt on the pool deck and at coffee time. We would like to extend our heart felt condolances to his family, about whom he lovingly spoke.
I first met Keith when I was swimming with the Edmonton Masters Swim Club. Not long after, in 1981, I moved to Calgary. I sought out Calgary Masters Swim Club on Keith’s advice. I am still an active member.
Keith was an inspiration to me; his positivity, his good humour, his dedication to physical activity and wellness. I took that to heart and have benefited immensely in my everyday life as a result. He will be sorely missed by his swimming friends. We are all better off for having known Keith.
We were shocked and saddened to learn of Keith being struck with a sudden aneurysm and subsequently passing. Keith was a good man and a friend. Keith would often let us know he and Marilyn were organizing a church social, sporting event or other activity at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Because of his efforts, we went to many of these activities and quite enjoyed them.
Keith gave Bob and his friend Jin Lucyk swimming lessons. It was a marvellous sight to see Keith glide through the water effortlessly as he demonstrated the proper technique for that particular swim stroke.
Bob enjoyed sending Marilyn occasional puns to pass along to Keith, knowing he would enjoy them and quite probably inflict them on others. So here my latest pun to pass along in memory of Keith Shaw.
“Lately I’ve had the urge to purchase one of those White Bears that roam the Arctic. When I quizzed my doctor the said its possibly’Bi-Polar’ “!

Dear Marilyn and Family:
I was very sorry to learn of Keith's passing. Keith was a true gentleman, enthusiastic and always helpful. I have fond memories of our get-togethers every New Year's eve at the Webbs, and attending the wonderful plays at St. Peter's Church. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Lois
I am saddened to hear of Keith's passing. I first met Keith as a student teacher at Canyon Meadows Elementary. My practicum was in a Gr. 2 setting. However, as a BPE graduate, I had an interest in teaching PE. Keith provided me with opportunity to work on those skills. The following year, without hesitation, he volunteered for the World Badminton Championships at the Saddledome as a linesman when I was recruiting for help. He was involved with Health and Physical Education Council of the ATA, had school interscholastic teams in cross-country running. He also enjoyed playing in the twice annual teachers' volleyball tournament. His passion towards sports in general and swimming in particular were exemplary! Thanks Keith for all of the experiences.
Dear Marilyn and Family;
I was deeply saddened to receive news of Keith's passing and send my heartfelt message of condolences to Marilyn, Heather, Warren and Families.
Keith was such a gentleman who always showed his compassion for others.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all that knew him.
Hoping that we will be getting together sometime in the new year but in the meantime, please take care and be safe during these unpredictable times.
Love from Harumi Brown
Dear Marilyn and family, I was very sorry to hear of the recent loss of your husband, father and grandfather. The passing of Keith has saddened those who knew and worked with him. As a former colleague from Guy Weadick School, I especially remember his strong commitment to teaching physical education, his enthusiasm for all fitness activities, and particularly his love of swimming. In sharing his personal life at school, Keith was always proud of his family and their accomplishments, and he found great enjoyment in his involvement with the church community. His boundless energy and positive attitude was a testament to his healthy lifestyle and a loving family. My sincere condolences and prayers to your family and friends at this difficult time. May you find comfort in the memories of happy times together.
Dear Marilyn and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Marilyn and Family, Lin and I were saddened to hear of Keith's passing, we will always remember his organizing the First Friday
functions at St. Peter's, also wanting Don to try and attend the seniors golf at Douglasdale. He was very attached to his family especially his grandchildren. Also Keith and Marilyn were regulars at the Carol Singing at the Armstrong residence. Will miss
his enthusiasm, he may be gone but never forgotten.
Dear Marilyn and family,
Nora and I were deeply saddened to hear of Keith's passing. I worked with him at Guy Weadick Elementary School as his Principal for many years. He was an outstanding Phys. Ed. Specialist and never tired of doing extra stuff for the children. Marilyn and family you will be in our prayers.

I was so very sorry to hear of Keith's passing.
I worked with him at Guy Weadick. He was a passionate and dedicated teacher. More than that he was a tremendously kind and caring man.
I once commented how much I enjoyed the Skor bar square he brought for a staff function. The next thing I knew I found a copy of the recipe on my desk, I still have it.
My most sincere sympathy Marilyn and family.

I am so sorry to hear of Keith’s passing. I knew him and Marilyn through competitive swimming, both Masters and 55+. They would take me under their wings and have me hang out with them at distant meets. Keith was such an accomplished swimming competitor. I loved to watch him swim, and win! RIP, Keith! You will be very much missed!
