I first met Filippo in 1986, when we both worked for what is now Calgary Tourism. It is hard to believe that we met over 34 years ago. Filippo became a lifelong friend and he had quite the impact on my world. He literally changed so much about it. I will always treasure the times that we spent together. Such an amazing person with such a zest for living life.
The photo I am attaching was taken on a mid-summer day out front of the Calgary Tower, where he was dressed in our Calgary Tourism uniform. Of course sporting the white stetson. This is one of my favorite photos that I have of him. I love him casually leaning against the pillars that led up to the Olympic Centre that was housed there at the time.
Love him dearly. Love him always. Such wonderful memories.
When I remember some of my own "formative years" - Filippo was there to influence me strongly in High School as he set a high example of a true hard worker but also one that knew culture and loved to share it. He taught me a little Italian when Massimo visited. He was in the country in France when I called him once from overseas. He was always an inspiration as a world traveler and the photo here I visited him and young Luc and Anita in Moscow in 2003. Filippo's point of view on all matters will be sorely missed. I am so happy to have reconnected this year before his passing. We had a good 30 min walk in Lakeview here in 2020 and updated each other as we had not really seen each other for many years. He was an amazing person and had a true entrepreneurial spirit. I am so sorry for your loss Anita and Luc and family. But also you must have so many treasured memories with this inspirational gifted person. I am so glad to have known him. Maurice (Maury) Edwards.
