Condolences
Shirley Titus and Family -
I write to express to you all the sincere condolences of the Patricias on the passing of Bob Titus. I had known him somewhere in my training, and also in 1 PPCLI in 1987-1988 in Calgary. Titus was a name that looked not only important but also somehow powerful - and I can, for some reason, still see it very clearly in the old combat dress dull green name tag - like I had stared at it only yesterday. He was a very likeable and respected Patricia (and previously QOR of C).
Canada and the Regiment remember Bob's 31 years of service, and you and your family are no doubt proud of that service. His name will be read in this year’s list of the lost when we read that list out this November 2021in the Sacred Space in Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. His name will also be listed in the 2020 edition of the Patrician’s Last Post section.
Thank you for obviously supporting Bob throughout his service and later, when he extended his service by supporting the several veterans clubs that he did. We are glad that he had a vibrant family and, Shirley was obviously a powerful force of support for more than 60 years! Well done.
Should any of Bob's family want to maintain a connection with the Regiment, a gratis three year Memorial Membership in the PPCLI Association is available. Contact Mr Herb Kenny, the Membership Chairman.
Thank you all.
Brigadier-General Vince Kennedy (Retired)
Colonel of the Regiment
Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry
Message from George Carrigan:
Terry and I were very sad to hear of the passing of Bob. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shirley and the family.
Bob was a very special friend and comrade to me, also a great soldier. I had the privilege of serving with him in “D” Company, Second Battalion of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. Bob was well known and very popular in the Battalion. I will always remember his mischievous smile.
I remember the time we were on a three day field exercise. We were staying in tents. The cooks were with us which meant hot meals for us. I was in the line up for our supper standing right behind Bob. He turned around to me with that “grin” on his face and said, “did you ever notice, when we are in the field it’s always the married men first in line?” Years later after both of us retired we were at our QOR Association reunion. We were lining up for our meal, and it so happened that I was right behind Bob. He turned to me, and I said, I know what you’re going to say. We both had a good laugh.
Years after I retired I received my CD medal. It’s a special medal and usually is pinned on in a ceremony. I was very honored to have Bob pin the medal on me.
The world is a sadder place today, another great soldier has passed away
We will always remember him.
George Carrigan
Shirley and all Bob's family
Bob will be greatly missed. You both opened your home to us more than once and showed a strong commitment to family and country, which we appreciate still.
We have lived half a country apart for most of our lives, but the distance was only physical. Bob, Shirley and Sandy narrowed the miles with weekly calls to aunt Mary, keeping us all closer.
We hope these words can add some comfort to you now and in future.

I meet your father several times when he would come to pick up the girls when they worked with me at Medicentres. He was such a delightful, kind, man, who was surly loved by all his family. He will be dearly missed. I have no advice on loss, it’s hard and we all grieve differently. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Donna Bonwick
