Condolences
Lisa, your Dad was a such a kind, joyful, mild mannered person. He lived to make you and Margaret happy! I was thinking about that trip we took one summer to your family home in Portsmouth. Such a fun trip and your Dad really made sure we all had a great time. You could really see how happy he was to be back there.
Wonderful memories.
Sending lots of love xoxo
I am so sorry to hear of your loss Margaret and Lisa. Your dad adored you and his grandchildren.
My memories of Norman begin in my childhood in the 1950s. He was my father, Harry Barber’s cousin, but considerably younger than my parents. I called him Norman, which in those days of Mr, Mrs, Miss or Uncle and Auntie was, to me, very unusual as he was at 18 years my senior - definitely a grownup. So he and his big brother Charles were special.
I heard about Norman mostly from my Auntie Mary, his mother but saw him less. He was away at university when we holidayed on the south coast at Broadstone staying with Auntie Mary and Uncle Will.
Much more recently Norman stayed with my mother or myself in Norfolk when he was on one of his re-union trips to the UK. I remember on one occasion taking him on tour of various family history sites across the county. Reepham was central to this.Norman found a fellow folk music lover when he met my partner Rob on one such visit and accompanied us to one of Rob’s gigs in a quaint old pub.
I shall remember Norman as a charming man, very kind to my mother Elsie and myself, never forgetting us and keeping in touch across the miles with letters and cards.
The last link to my parents and older relations, I shall always remember him with great affection.
A life well lived, rest in peace Norman.

My sincere condolences to Margaret and her family for their loss. Margaret always spoke fondly of her father and how proud she was of him, his life, and his accomplishments. I know he will be dearly missed. My best wishes to you and your family during this difficult time.
Peter and team, at PCe.
