Condolences
To all the Werry family,
I’m so sorry I am just finding out now about the passing of both your dear parents. I am Gerry’s first cousin, Cathie Newmarch, daughter of his aunt Gladys Worby(McNair). I hadn’t seen your folks in a while but used to visit with them in the local shops.
They were both amazing people and Gerry and my mom were close!
My condolences to you all. Please contact me if you are able.
Cathie Newmarch, Calgary
My sincere and deepest condolences to Deb and Byron and the Werry family. May you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you have in your heart. I will always remember the Werrys in their lawn chairs coming out to every baseball game to watch Deb play back in 1989-90. They were our teams biggest fans and so proud of Debbie and they were always smiling and happy. Their love story is that rare one in a million kind of love. Sending you love and strength in this difficult time. My heart goes out to all of you.
Some of the moments that I hold dear with my grandpa...
Morning coffee talks in the living room, walks through the Babbling Brook, dancing it up, bike rides in Fish Creek park, funny family emails, constant laughter from exaggerated stories that we knew he made up on the spot, and us grandkids waiting patiently for dessert because grandpa was still enjoying every last morsel of his food ❤️, and so many more!
My grandpa was larger than life. He was kind, supportive, giving, and absolutely hilarious. He was and still will remain one of my favourite people. He enjoyed life to the fullest and taught me to do the same. He loved his family so much! Thank you grandpa for laughing with me and being such a huge influence in my life. You made this world better in many ways. Your family will think of you every time we pour that morning coffee, listen/dancing to a great song, lace up our shoes to start the day, tell a corny joke, enjoy a great meal, and/or send a cleverly worded email to our loved ones. We will celebrate you in all of these small but beautiful moments in our day. We will keep you in our hearts always because it’s where you have always been. Love you ❤️!
Great Man – Greatest Couple Ever!
I have been looking for the perfect picture that I am sure I took but have yet to encounter. The moment was the Wedding Anniversary Celebration for Marge and Gerry at the Delta hotel in Calgary. The year according to my sister was 2011 and since she says so, I am sure it must have been June 24, 2011 . Of course, I had known Gerry for many years previous to 2011 and I have always been amazed at just how beautiful of a man and how beautiful of a couple he and Marge were and are. They are the Best Couple Ever! Observing the couple over the years was always a pleasure and being around them always provided me with a sense of awe and wonderment. A memory of Gerry is incomplete without Marge as they were truly united as one. When observing Gerry it was always with such Joy seeing how much in love he was with his partner be it 40 years ago or a few short months ago. I remember watching Marge and Gerry dance at the Delta Hotel and I shed a few tears watching just how connected the two were. Throughout the years, it was a privilege to be a bystander in this glorious love affair and it is certainly a privilege for me and for my children to have known Gerry Werry who was a beautiful and kind human being. Gerry touched me deeply and I am most certain, he touched countless others during his life’s journey. Gerry Werry - You will be remembered and missed!
Gerry was a fun guy to be around. He never took himself too seriously and never made himself larger than the story he was telling. And you never saw Gerry without his side kick, Marge - his wife and best friend. They did everything together with never a cross word said between them - at least not within earshot. Their 50th wedding anniversary was cause for real celebration that included a visit to the Winnipeg church where they were joined together followed by likely a young-hearted revisit of those places in the USA where they had stopped at on their honeymoon. Gerry was dedicated to his family and his charities including manning and ringing the Salvation Army Christmas bells. A magnificent job well done and Gerry made setting the bar so high look easy. Been thinking over these past few days of the many special times we have shared over the years with Uncle Gerry and Aunt Marge! Gerry always had time to talk and find out about how you are doing... a great listener and great encourager. My mom and dad ( Agnes & Gordon) had such fun with them too! I also loved how Gerry's eyes would light up as he talked about his family . Our condolences .

I can always remember Grampa Werry's huge smile and his ability to make a bad situation seem to be ok with an "oh well lets move on " sort of attitude. He was a very generous man and loved his wife and family more then anything right till his passing. I would not be surprised to know that Grampa's last thoughts were of his Marjorie and worrying that she was going to be ok.
