Obituary of Victor LAWRICK

February 1, 1927 - December 31, 2020
Calgary, Alberta    

Victor Lawrick, beloved husband of Marie Lawrick, his wife of 61 years, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Victor is survived by his loving wife Marie, his four children and their spouses - Rhonda (Jean), Roma (Kerry), Lewis (Martha), Robyn (Bob) - his two grandchildren Kate and Ben, and his sister Rosalie.  

Victor was predeceased by his mother Eloise, his father Luca, brother Nick, two sisters Victoria and Emilie and his beloved dog Pogo.

Victor was born and raised on the family farm near Assiniboia, SK.  He met his forever love, Marie, at a New Year’s dance in 1958. They married the next year and eventually made their permanent home in Calgary. He worked as an Audio Technician until his retirement, when he and Marie finally had the opportunity to enjoy their free time. 

Together, they travelled extensively and enjoyed new activities, such as cross-country skiing and volunteering at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. They also enjoyed the companionship of their dachshund Pogo. 

Trim, healthy and athletic, our handsome dad continued curling and golfing right up to his late 80’s. Dad valued athleticism, enjoyed watching sports, and coaching Little League baseball. His influence continues with his kids and grandkids alike, who also value fitness, health and various athletic pursuits.

A quiet and humble man, he was a free thinker and encouraged individuality and self expression in his children. We owe so much to our dad, for he provided us a framework to explore and pursue our interests be they athletic, academic, musical, literary, or artistic. 

Above all, dad enjoyed having his family together around the dining room table, where all our interests and experiences would converge into highly entertaining exchanges of “campfire stories”. Dad’s laughter was our reward, and our reminder also to look for the humour in life.
