Condolences
I was saddened to see that my friend, Coralie Willis, had passed away. She and I had much in common, and spent a lot of time together in the 1970s and 80s. Coralie had a wonderful and witty sense of humour, and was a very sensitive, considerate, and intelligent person who thought deeply about many subjects. As young, carefree women, both of us loved singing, studied with the same music teachers, attended Mount Royal College, attended films and concerts, went on long hikes, and shared an appreciation for our cats and nature. We were kindred spirits. As the years went by, we gradually drifted apart to pursue different goals and dreams in life. Coralie struggled valiantly with chronic health issues, but remained adventurous and eager to learn new things. She was both fierce and gentle. I will always think of her with fondness, gratitude, and admiration. May she rest in peace.

I was very sad to read in today’s paper about Coralie’s passing. She and I always exchanged Christmas cards, including this past year, and always vowed to get together soon. Sadly, we had not visited in person recently. I first met Coralie when my son and I took piano lessons from her many years ago. I remember her as a kind and caring teacher and I have fond memories of playing piano duets with her. She became my friend as well as my teacher, someone I greatly appreciated for her sharp intellect and great sense of humour, despite suffering years of ill health. I will miss Coralie, and I send sincere condolences to Larry and her family.
