Obituary of Willa Joan EDMUNDS (nee Ternan)

January 30, 1932 – Rossland, British Columbia

January 2, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Willa Edmunds who slipped away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

 

Willa was born on January 30, 1932, in Rossland, BC. After high school graduation, Willa moved to Vancouver, BC where she trained as a Registered Nurse. Willa began her nursing career in Comox, BC, where she met and married Dick Edmunds. They moved to Calgary in 1961 where they raised their family. Dick and Willa retired to Nelson, BC in 1987 and spent many happy years there until Dick’s passing in 2004.

 

Willa was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was active and loved to garden, knit, sew, do needlework, golf and fish. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and taking family dogs on long walks.

 

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cathy (Vince) Orr, Bob (Lesley) Edmunds, and Peggy Edmunds; and her beloved grandchildren, Scott (Swapnika) Orr, Megan Orr, Nathalie Edmunds and Kasane Edmunds. Willa will also be missed by her brother Bill (Shirley) Ternan, sister Eve (Gerry) Zanussi, sister-in-law Joan Edmunds and her nieces and nephews and their families.

The family are deeply grateful to the staff at Bow View Manor for their loving care of Willa over the last five years. Memorial donations may be made in Willa’s name to Parkinson Association of Alberta, # 120- 6835 Railway St SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2V6 (www.parkinson.ca).
