Obituary of Leonard DONKIN

April 26, 1945 – Newcastle Upon Tyne, England
January 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Leonard Donkin, beloved husband of Lily Donkin (nee Burak), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

Len was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England on April 26, 1945 and he immigrated to Canada in 1967. He married Lily in 1992. Len accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of being Procurement Manager for Colt Engineering. He was a passionate golfer and enjoyed being a member of Priddis Golf and Country Club. 

Besides his loving wife Lily, Len is survived by his step-daughter Kim Bruce, son-in-law Randall Bruce, and step-son Darrell Henigman. Len is also survived by his twin sister Pat English, nephew Michael Pickering, great nephew Ryan Pickering, and brother Billy Donkin, all of County Durham, England.

No funeral service will be held. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nursing staff in Emergency, ICU, Units 27 and 37 at the Foothills Medical Centre.  They would also like to thank all the wonderful Home Hemo staff at Sheldon Chumir. A very special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. George Vitale for his unwavering care over the last fifteen years.
