Obituary of David Archer WICKHAM

January 12, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

David Wickham, beloved husband of Ruth Wickham (nee Ball), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

David and Ruth were married on October 4, 1958 and have spent sixty-two wonderful years together. David owned his own dealership, Wickham Pontiac Buick in Mount Forest, ON. They moved to Calgary in 1978, and David started in sales at Jack Carter Chev-Olds, soon after he found his true calling, Jaguar. He sold Jaguars with Cooke Motors with brief stints at Lexus and Mercedes, and reunited with Jaguar at Charles English Motor Cars, now Jaguar/Land Rover Calgary, staying with them until his retirement in October of 2019. David received many accolades and recognitions surrounding excellence in knowledge and customer service and had a loyal customer following. His work colleagues would consider him the ultimate gentleman. In his spare time during his early years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the cottage life in Haliburton area of Ontario. He also enjoyed spending his time with his numerous Golden Retrievers throughout the years. David and Ruth enjoyed traveling and cruises, their most memorable trip was a dealer trip to London, England awarded from Jaguar. David was always interested in his son’s medical career.

Besides his loving wife Ruth, David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sylvia; his grandchildren, Tyler and Cameron Wickham. He will be missed by numerous extended family and friends in Alberta and Ontario.

David was predeceased by his parents, Anna May and Edward Guy Wickham; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Donald Fleet; his brother Hugh Wickham, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane and Mildred.
