Obituary of Sylvia GREENLEAF

July 5, 1953 – Castelsarrasin, France

January 14, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that the family of Sylvia Greenleaf, of Calgary, AB, announce her passing on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 67 years. Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Sylvia was born in Castelsarrasin, France on July 5, 1953. She immigrated to Canada in 1976, at the age of twenty-three years. She was loved dearly and adored by her friends at Service Canada, as well as those on the “bus” who she often shared stories of her kitties with, and many laughs. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, knowledge and thoughtfulness while she was helping clients at Service Canada.

Sylvia will be remembered most for her fervent passion of animals and the conservation of our planet. She grew up with farm cats and rabbits, and had dogs and cats as pets throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers, and valued healthy, clean eating. Her daughters will always treasure, appreciate and share a giggle over the love Sylvia put into her wholesome and nourishing cooking, even though they didn’t always value it as children.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends for her kind heart, warm and gentle demeanor, as well as her tenacity and feisty spirit. She will be tenderly remembered for her love of reading, especially to her grandsons, and passing on her love of animal books to them. Sylvia’s legacy will live on through the memories her family and friends will share of her. We are all walking each other home, and we are so honoured to have been a part of her journey. Rest in Peace dear Sylvia, mom, me-me.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jessica Greenleaf and Audrey Greenleaf (Pedro   Ferreira); grandchildren, Jack Ferreria (six years) and Cole Ferreira (four years). Sylvia is also survived by her older brothers, Francis Conesa (Marie-Jeanne) and     Michel Conesa (Christiane); as well as numerous relatives and friends.
