Obituary of Murray Dean WEATHERHEAD

WEATHERHEAD, Murray Dean, P.Eng.
May 13, 1954 – Calgary, Alberta
January 19, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Murray Dean Weatherhead. Murray passed away on the evening of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the age of 66.

Murray was born in Calgary, AB, on May 13, 1954. For more than three decades, Murray worked in the oil and gas industry in Calgary as an engineer. This included working for many years with both North Star Energy and then Devon Petroleum. He was a well-respected engineer in his field.

Murray suffered terribly, for many years, with a debilitating genetic disease. Now that he has been freed from the bondage of physical pain, it is the family’s sincere hope that he has finally found the peace which eluded him during his final years of life. Murray will be deeply missed by both his immediate and extended family.

Murray is survived by his loving wife Donna Barber, his daughter Renee Mousseau, his stepdaughter and her husband, Tracy, and Roberto; and his step-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler. Murray is also survived by his two brothers, Blake and Norman; his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald (1999) and Mavis (2014); and also his sister Lorna Malmberg (1992).

Per Murray’s wishes, there will be no formal end-of-life service. Instead, a gathering of family and friends will take place at Murray and Donna’s house once Covid-19 protocols permit. A future notification to this effect will be forthcoming. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Murray’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Murray Dean Weatherhead, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
