Obituary of Myron Crist

May 2, 1921 – Retlaw, Alberta

February 13, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Dad passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the age of 99 years.

Dad was born in Retlaw to Mildred and William Crist. He spent his childhood on the farm and moved to Calgary in 1939 to attend Tech (SAIT). He graduated from the Automotive program and opened Crists’ Service Station Ltd with his father in 1944 and worked there until his retirement in1989. He was well respected by his customers and employees.

Dad met Mom in Calgary and they were married in 1943 and welcomed Sharon in 1945 followed by Bill in 1946. Dad & Mom enjoyed dancing, bridge, travelling and playing music together. Hemet, Palm Springs and Hawaii were some of their favourite destinations. They loved their motor home and had wonderful trips throughout Canada and the US. Visiting with family and friends was their greatest joy. Dad loved music and played the same saxophone since he was fourteen years old. He played in two bands in his retirement and was the leader of the House Band at Confederation Seniors Centre and played there every week until covid times. He was still a great saxophone player at 98!

Dad is lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharon Moore, son Bill Crist (Marg), grandchildren, David Moore (Kim),  Ann-Marie Giasson (Dan), and Matthew Crist (Mehreen); and great-grandchildren, Cydnie, Ryanne and Nora Moore and Chase, Parker and Quinn Giasson. Dad was predeceased by Phyllis, his loving wife of 67 years in 2011. He was also predeceased by his sister Margaret Waite.
