Obituary of Elizabeth (Betty) Ann HELFRICH

February 14, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Helfrich of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and five children on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 84 years. 

Betty was born in London, England, to Elizabeth Ann Mills and Charles Belcher in 1937.  She endured many hardships including the Second World War.  She moved to Canada at the age of 11 to be raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Carrie and Christian Holt.  She had her first date with the love of her life on August 26, 1956, engaged on December 19, 1956 and married on May 23, 1959 (due to RCMP rules). Despite her difficult early years, she evolved into the most caring, compassionate, loving, kind, and happy person.  She never had a bad word to say about anyone and has instilled these “excellent” values on her family. 

She is survived by her husband Philip, her five children and extended family: Brad (Sandy) Helfrich, Kim (Bob) Ireland, Cindy (Scott Modde) Helfrich, John (Melanie) Helfrich, and Jason (Joanne) Helfrich; and her sister Linda Sibley.  Betty was a wonderful role model and has left an amazing legacy including eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all.
