Condolences
Uncle Ott and Family,
We were saddened to learn of Aunt Effie's passing. We will always remember her fondly as a woman of great energy and humour. She will be missed.
Kent Kufeldt and Family
My dear friend, Effie, was spunky, fun-loving and wise. Fashion-forward and young at heart, she was always interested in what was going on in the world, loved Otto, her family, friends and children. Creative, appreciative of the arts and an avid reader, also aptly described her, but even more than that, Effie had an attentive ear that was connected to her heart. Whenever I was anxious or sad, I could seek her counsel and she would help me process and turn things around. Besides her open heart, she always had and open door, often welcoming Grant and me to come and share a meal with her and Otto. These meals were always presented with flair that was welcoming and lovely and often ended with a few games of "Schmear" and a lot of laughter. I was sad for her when she first told me she was "losing her words", but so touched by Otto's and her children's and grandchildren's responses when they immediately took up her baton of caregiving in such tender and beautiful ways; helping her to stay in one of her favourite places-her home. December 19th became part of Grant's and my Christmas tradition when we would pause during the Christmas frenzy and find a way to celebrate Effie on the day she was born. To her, age was just a number, but years were an attitude of which hers was optimistic, inspiring, encouraging and kind. I thank God I got to know her in such a special way. Effie, I'm going to miss you so much!!! "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always; as long as I'm living, my dear friend you'll be." Our sincerest condolences to you, Otto, and Sharon, Michael, Elizabeth and families. My you be comforted knowing Effie loved you all deeply. We know you will carry the "essence of Effie" in your hearts forever.
With deepest sympathy and love,
-Grant and Dona Klaiber

To Otto and family:
In hearing of Effie's passing it came with great sadness and loss of a special friend which kindled many fond memories of joy and laughter over the years, individually and as couples. I first met Effie when our daughters, Laurie and Sharon entered kindergarten and from there our relationship grew. As couples over the years we enjoyed many evenings over a meal, card games, as well as on the golf course in Radium. It didn't seem to matter the circumstances Effie always seemed to have a way to bring joy and laughter to the situation. Effie will be greatly missed but very fondly remembered.
May God bless you and surround you with His love at this time.

Otto and Family,
We are saddened by the passing of Effie, but we fondly remember a special friend who we would describe as fun loving, hospitable, classy, loyal and faithful. Effie was always totally dedicated to her family and was always there for each and every one of you just as you have been there for her. Effie had a special quality which can best be described as “spunk”. She made people feel better just by being around her and being part of her focus on living life to the fullest.
Effie’s friendship meant a great deal to us. We have so many wonderful memories of special times together which were always filled with laughter and good fun. Effie was a beautiful person inside and out and we would tease her about being the Gleichen Princess who Otto was so fortunate to meet and share his life with. Otto and Effie were a very special couple who meant so much to their family and friends, serving as wonderful role models to many.
As we grieve the loss of Effie, we take comfort in the joy she brought into our lives and join family and friends in the celebration of a very special person who we will dearly miss.
Hugs to all of you,
Garry and Doreen
