Condolences
Bill & Gillian Corry & Family
We will always remember Doug as a wonderful quiet man of God. He was generous and kind to all who knew him or came across his path. Much loved.
I knew Doug through St.Peters Church, he was such a lovely, kind man! I will really miss him ❤️
Will always remember Mr. Mackie as such a wonderful distinguished loving man. Love and Prayers to all who knew him.
I will always remember riding around in his truck with him and his dog (Shelby?) . We always had to stop for treats.
On behalf of the board, staff and life members at Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society, we wish to thank Doug for his many years of volunteering at MRAS and his sponsor support to the Priddis & Millarville Fair, Field Crops Department. His dedication and contribution to the society were very much appreciated.
In March 1983 Doug and Qula (his first wife) visited us in Hilversum, Holland. (Qula was the sister of my husband Niek de Bode)
They gave us for present a wonderfull book: Paintings of Betty McNaught, "the pioneer Artist of the Peace". I loved all those pictures of landscapes, farms, people, horses and buildings.
In september 2003 I visited Doug and Mary in Okotoks, and we made a trip to Beaverlodge, the place where Doug grew up. We visited there Doug's relatives and friends. To my surprise I recognized in several houses several paintings I knew from that book, simply hanging in the livingrooms!
Doug loved Beaverlodge, and I'm greatfull he showed me the land of his youth, and told us about his live there, going to school on horseback and once meeting a bear near the saskatoonbushes.
Rust in vrede, Doug, good memberances will stay in my mind!

My Condolences to yhe Mackie family in thier loss. My late husband (Wayne) enjoyed working with Doug for many years on the Seed and Hay Show committee. He always thought highly of Doug and appreciated knowledge. .Janice Lawson
Doug was my cousin and we were related through the McNaught family who his parents had lived near to in Paris, Ontario. When the McNaughts went west to pioneer in the Peace Country near Beaverlodge, they encouraged the Mackie family to come west. They did come out and farmed just west of the McNaught Homestead where Doug and his sister Jean spent their early years. Later the Mackie parents moved to Calgary where Doug worked in the Agricultural business. When I left home to attend the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, I often visited with them. In the years since I have always kept in touch with Doug and have many happy memories of our visits. Since I moved back to Beaverlodge, Doug has visited often and I remember him as such a gentle soul and so very kindly to all throughout his lifetime. I shall so miss his visits and may he Rest In Peace.
Sincerely, Marjorie Henn
Doug was always the best example of a Christian gentleman. We will miss him terribly even as we rejoice that he has run the race.
Doug was a good friend of the Homestead Society and made several substantial contributions to Boardwalk construction and to the Homestead and attended several of the Homesteads Summer Festivals.
Doug Mackie was an exceedingly fine gentlemen. His pleasant temperament and exemplary character were appreciated by all who knew him. He was a devout man who enjoyed nature's beauty, loyal friends and family, and his Scottish ancestry. Doug will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
