Condolences
Nicky Zacharuk A wonderful AUNT and a great lady .I recall the times when I was a kid and went to Calgary for the Stampede and she would supervise uncle Ev cooking on the BBQ. Also remember her Borch boy was that good. Her house was always so perfect just like Her. She will be missed by all of us.A beautiful lady and a GREAT AUNT
Such a great lady! So many memories of my Auntie "Katie".Trips to their home in Calgary near the big hill on 16th avenue to visit with her and Uncle Ev, she always had special treats and snacks. Then later to the beautiful house on Juniper Road where she would make me the best sandwiches for lunch while I got to watch tv in the den and the prizes she would save for me from Uncle Ev's cereal, the special white furniture in the living room and a huge bowl of matchbooks collected from travels. Auntie Katie took me shopping one day to the Hudson Bay store and bought me my first cowboy boots, black with white and turquoise accents on the tops. The first garlic toast I ever remember was Auntie Katies and I'll always remember her opening that foil wrapped loaf and that first taste. Later on when the young kid from the small town went to the big city to attend SAIT and stayed with them she influenced me in the best way and for that I will be forever grateful.

Kay was a real spitfire with an awesome sense of humor. She was so fun and her and Ev complemented each other and were the perfect couple. We will all miss her tremendously but Kay will continue to live on in wonderful memories that we will cherish our entire lifetimes. She will be remembered for her cute laugh, her bright smile, her sense of laughter, her elegance, her love of books, her undeniable love of Everett, her concern for others, her young at heart spirit and all the other remarkable qualities she had. Your memory will shine brightly Kay for ever more. We were all so blessed to have had you in our lives. You were dearly loved by so many friends who had the good fortune of knowing you. Rest In Peace Kay after a life well lived.
Love,
Myrna & Ted
What a long and blessed life Kay lived!
I remember parties at Helen and Don's and Kay showing up looking so glamorous and gorgeous. Kay was like a 1940's movie star-a very elegant lady! Kay was a voracious reader and would share books. She had exquisite taste and even though my feet were slightly larger I managed to squeeze into a pair or two of Kay's cast offs hoping I'd look as classy.Underneath that very polished exterior was a woman with small town values. She appreciated a home cooked meal and was a good cook. Helen and Kay would make borscht, stirring it in a sanitized bathtub. This happened during the summer and they would package this beet soup it in ice cream pails. Many of us were gifted with a pail and we enjoyed every spoonful.I know Ev is missing his "Dearie" but what a wonderful life she had with Ev.
