Obituary of Larry Charles HANK

November 24, 1968 – Estevan, Saskatchewan
February 15, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

As we celebrate a life that was, we also mourn the loss of Larry Hank. Larry Charles Hank of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the age of 52 years.

As we Remember Larry, one cannot help but admire how he lived his life despite the challenges he faced. He was a kind soul, a friend to everyone who knew him and a gentle giant who appreciated life and lived it on his terms. His thirty-year career with the incredible Venturers organization was a labour of love. Up at the crack of dawn to catch his ride to Bragg Creek or Fish Creek or any of the many picturesque outdoor locations, he had the good fortune of working alongside numerous co-workers who also became his good friends. He loved his job and never complained about the early hours nor the work. Outside of work hours, Larry had a number of interests that included music, movies, Cribbage and sports. He would ride the city buses listening to CDs on his headphones. He spent evenings and weekends watching movies from his huge collection of DVDs that Blockbuster in its time, would have envied. Challenging him to a game of cribbage, you’d have a fierce competitor on your hands. But his main passion was sports, both watching and participating. If you needed to know who won the hockey games last night or which teams are playing when, Larry was a great resource. He bowled on a regular basis and he played baseball in the spring and summer and was a member of the Special Olympics teams representing Calgary for a number of years.

There are those who suggest we all have a purpose in this life. If that is truly the case then Larry’s work, play, happiness and contentment with the simple things in life are characteristics anyone would appreciate.

Larry is survived by his sisters, Roseann Trump (Brian), Darlene Herauf (Brian), Susan Ziriada (Peter), Faye Hank; and brothers, Brian Hank (Jackie), David Hank (Debbie), and John Hank; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Larry was predeceased by his father Charles, his mother Bernice, his brother Gary, and his sister Bonnie.

A Private Funeral Service will be held.Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Larry’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
