Obituary of Ray HODGSON

HODGSON, John Raymond
May 8, 1935 – St. Louis, Saskatchewan
March 6, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

John Raymond Hodgson died peacefully at home at the age of 85 with his beloved wife Gladys at his side.

Ray was born on May 8, 1935, in St.Louis, SK, to Arthur and Florence Hodgson. He married Patricia Gladys Bannerman on February 25, 1955, and spent sixty-six wonderful years together. They lived in many places throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta until they retired in Calgary in 1994 to be close to their children, Hal and Linda, Dorothy and Terry, Trudy, Ross and Clinton and their grandchildren. Papa, as he was affectionately known, loved spending time with his family, teasing and joking with his grandchildren, Bradley, Gregory and Laurel, Amy, Cory and Annie, Emily and Will and great-grandchildren, Scarlett Ray and Ryker Reid.  Ray will be missed dearly by his family.

He enjoyed travelling with Gladys. They had many wonderful adventures together, especially during their snowbird years in their house on wheels, making friends wherever they went. Ray was the life of the party and always enjoyed getting together with family and friends.

Ray will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried in Memorial Gardens in Prince Albert, SK, at a later date.  We are honouring his wishes and will not have a service at this time. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Ray’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Ray Hodgson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
