Obituary of Karen Virginia DYKMAN

October 4, 1966 – Toronto, Ontario November 22, 2017 – Okotoks, Alberta Karen beloved wife of Mike Dykman, of Okotoks, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the age of 51 years. After high school graduation Karen attended Olds College receiving a diploma in Animal Health Technology. She worked as a technologist with animals for a few years until being drawn into the oil patch. She attended SAIT in late 1980s and early 1990s in various Petroleum courses. Most of her career was as a Senior Technical Specialist for drilling and completions. She loved to spend time with her family, being a soccer mom, time at the cabin, fishing, curling, yoga, Zumba and nightly walks. She adored animals especially dogs and horses. Besides her loving husband, Mike, Karen is survived by her three children, Marina, Kale and Reese Dykman; her mother Jean Nelson; her sister Barb Nelson; her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Karen Nelson; her nephews, Christopher and Zachary Nelson; her niece Sydney Nelson; as well as her in-laws, Ed and Elsie Dykman; her sister-in-law Ramona (Tom) and many aunts and uncles. Karen was predeceased by her father Doug Nelson. A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
