Obituary of Lynnette IRVINE-FONG

February 21, 1956 - Paddington, Australia          

March 15, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta   

We are saddened to announce the loss of Lynnette Elizabeth Irvine-Fong. Lynnette passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside on Monday, March 15, 2021 in Calgary, AB, at the age of 65. She courageously battled cancer but lost out in the end.

Born in Paddington, Australia and raised in Melbourne, Australia, she made her way to Canada in 1991 and settled with Robert (Bob), first in Fernie, BC, and then in Calgary, AB. Lynnette was a loving wife and mother to her two children.  Besides her wonderful friends in Calgary, she will be missed by family and numerous friends in her home city of Melbourne, as well as in Glasgow where she lived for many years. She loved a glass of wine and dram of whisky whether travelling the world or in her backyard.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert Fong, son Brandon, daughter Victoria, and brother James Irvine (Sue) of Melbourne, Australia. They will all miss her immensely. Always remaining close to her heart are niece Lauren (Louy) and nephew Brett (Stephanie) of Melbourne, Australia. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and John Irvine.

A Private Service will be held for the immediate family and limited guests. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date when a larger gathering is allowed for many others to attend.

The family would like to thank the staff in Unit 46 at the Foothills Medical Centre and the Agape Hospice for the excellent care she received. A special thanks to friend and doctor Rod Place for his care, kindness, and support in helping us navigate through Lynnette’s difficult journey.
