Obituary of Margaret Elaine Templeton

TEMPLETON, Margaret Elaine
April 23, 1948 – Sherridon, Manitoba
March 27, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Elaine Templeton of Calgary entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Trinity Lodge, where she had been a resident for almost four years. She was the beloved soulmate of Ross Ferby, and dear sister of Gordon Templeton, of Fort Saskatchewan.

Elaine was born on April 23, 1948, in Sherridon, MB, to Jospeh and Jean Templeton. Soon after the birth of Gordon, the family relocated to Lynn Lake, and then in 1954, moved west to Fort Saskatchewan, AB, where Elaine completed her elementary and secondary education. Following graduation, she entered the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she obtained her B.Ed. degree. Elaine began her distinguished thirty-year teaching career with the Calgary Board of Education, where she provided exemplary service as an educator. She taught at Alice M. Curtis, Jennie Elliott, Acadia and Woodland Elementary Schools, always ensuring that each and every child was special. During this time, she shared her love of dance with her students in the many extra-curricular folk dance clubs that she organized and taught. She was extremely proud of her students and delighted in following their accomplishments. Respected by colleagues who admired her dedication, creativity and professionalism, she was always held in high esteem by students and parents alike. Elaine’s faith was of paramount importance to her, and she was an inspiration to the members of the various ministries to which she belonged within Holy Nativity Anglican and St. Cecilia’s Catholic Churches, especially in the Bible Study groups that she led. It was always Elaine’s dream to serve as a missionary in developing countries, helping the underprivileged and less fortunate. Each summer, Elaine enjoyed travelling with Ross to various world-wide destinations, which allowed both of them to explore other cultures and to gain a deeper appreciation for all people. Together, they visited over one hundred countries on the seven continents. Elaine was grateful for her relatives, colleagues and students, a wide circle of friends and her church families, all of whom enriched her life. Besides her wonderful sense of humour and beautiful smile, she will be forever remembered for the compassion, generosity and kindness that she shared in the hearts of those she touched.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Cecilia’s Church after Easter for a private gathering due to COVID-19 restrictions. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum within Queen Park’s Cemetery. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Elaine’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” (Forest Witcraft)
