Condolences
I knew Mary as a member of the Heritage Weavers and Spinners Guild. She was always such a cheerful presence with her spinning wheel clicking away. I admired her wealth of knowledge and lovely creativity of all things spun, woven, or knitted. After she stopped driving, I often picked her up for guild activities and she was always telling me stories and laughing about things. The guild members are grateful for her contributions. She is missed.
Mary was such a delightful person, always with a positive attitude. She was my aunt's dear friend. Mary joined us for some family events and felt right at home with our large extended family. I am fortunate to have a sample of her weaving! She spoke so fondly of Tracey and her husband for the care they had provided over the years. Mary will be missed.
I had known Mary since April 1948. I knew her all these years. We were both nursing students at the Calgary General Hospital. I talked to her within a week of her death. I feel fortunate to have been able to visit with her before COVID19 at her suite at Trinity Lodge. I will miss Mary.
We are so sad to hear of Mary's passing. She was my mother's best friend for approximately 50 years since they completed nursing training together until my mother (Roberta Burchnall) passed away in 1997. She babysat me in the 1950's and remained a great friend of our family until her passing. My father and I along with my wife, son, daughter and grandchildren visited with her often through the years and it was disappointing that we couldn't visit recently due to the restrictions last year and then her transfer to the hospice. We will miss our lunch meetings at the Red Lobster where Mary and my Dad would catch up on the progress of each other's illnesses and we would discuss all family news and current issues. We know that Mary relied on Tracey a great deal for assistance in recent years and we appreciate her dedication, hard work and the comfort she provided.
Sincere condolences from Ivor, Jay, Iris, Sarah and Joseph Burchnall.
The members of the 5th. Dimension Outdoor Club were saddened to read that Mary had passed away. Mary was a founding
member of this club and was an enthusiastic and well respected member for many years. She loved being out in the mountains in all seasons whether hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Mary’s sense of humour and positive attitude were much appreciated by her many friends in the club. We send our deepest sympathy to Mary’s family and friends at this time.
Mary was a very special person who faced adversity with strength and determination. I sat in awe of her approach to life. I shall miss our chats but know she is in a better place. My sincerest condolences to her family and many friends. she will be greatly missed.
