Condolences
Doreen was my great aunt, but we also got to share a friendship as coworkers working at Dons Hobby Shop. Doreen and I shared a strange sense of humour, always laughing at jokes and truths other members of the family would not enjoy as much as we did.
At work Don, Doreen and myself enjoyed getting a malt on Tuesday’s from the 4th floor of the Bay down town in the heat of the summer, It was our treat and one of my favourite memories of us all working together.
I bought her some perennial sweet peas to plant at her house as sweet pea are annual normally… They did not have the same smell as the old fashion variety but came up every year. She was always so touched at this small gift and gesture and told me every time I saw her at clan gathering that they were still growing and that she loved them.
She was very wise about people and life, knew how to get along with everyone, she had a big heart. She attended both of my grandparents funeral and we embraced and had a good cry but were also able to share many wonderful memories. We always had a special relationship and I will miss her very much.
Ted & Family - I am so sorry for your loss, Doreen always spoke of you often to me on the front cash as we puttered with work. I have some great photos of Doreen if you would like them I’m on Facebook as Chris Spicer - the profile with the picture of Don in it. Would be happy to send them to you.
Doreen will remain forever in my memory as a very kind and happy sweet lady. She made me laugh everyday I was there with her. It was a honour to have spent time with Doreen. Prayers and hugs to her family and many friends that she knew and touch their hearts.
Barney and Anne (Laycraft)Mackay
Great Picture. She hasn't changed very much.
We have such great memories of Doreen (we called her Granny for some reason) at the ranch. Ted and Doreen had huge positive influence on the teenagers at the ranch - and we are grateful for those good times with good people. Our heartfelt condolences.
