Obituary of Doreen Beulah JONES

Doreen Jones of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday April 24, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Doreen was born and raised in Calgary, the last 64 years of which she resided in her beloved home in the South West area.

In the early years of her marriage Doreen enjoyed spending time at their Bragg Creek cabin, the horses they owned and the community they found there. Doreen’s lifetime passion were her animals, especially her much loved Boston Terriers. She recently shared that she thought she bred and raised forty Boston’s throughout her lifetime, many of which found loving homes in Calgary and beyond. In light of her compassion for all animals, she contributed to numerous charities supporting and caring for them. Doreen loved a good meal, a good laugh and to reminisce about good times gone by. She was stubborn with strong opinions and for a small person feisty up until her last few days. She guarded her heart, her trust had to be earned. As she liked to joke ‘she liked animals more than she did people’ and she spent a large portion of her days looking after her favorites, Tinkerbell, DeeDee, Dovey and the Sisters.

She leaves to mourn her, son Ted Jones, grandsons, Chris and Ted; and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her infant daughter, Carol-Anne Jones; her husband of sixteen short years, Edward Glyn (Ted) Jones; father, Roland Carl (Joe) Spicer, mother Vera Spicer (nee Faulkner), brother Gordon Fraser Spicer, sister Irene Vera Schinkinger and brother Donald Vernon Spicer.

At Doreen’s request cremation has taken place and she will be interned at Queen’s Park Cemetery with her late husband Ted Jones.
