Condolences
Thankyou for the opportunity to view the service for Paul virtually. It was such a lovely service.
Paul was a remarkable man, so willing to share joy, humour and what he had learned along the way, with others. I have always admired his joy for life and eagerness to embrace all adventures, as well as his steadfast love, loyalty, commitment and dedication to you Linda. My prayer is that you will continue to live out his memory and joyful passion, until the two of you are reunited once again. May the Lord be with you, May His grace fill you and give you strength.
In love,
Mary Appleton-Dias
Paul was a really nice person and a very good friend, I still can’t believe that he’s gone, I’ll definitely miss his jokes and his smile, it’s too sad that we won’t be able to see him again, R.I.P now dear friend :(
I will miss Paul. He was a person of boundless enthusiasm for everything he did. If I didn’t know something as a White Hatter, ask Paul. My condolences to his family.
Paul was one of those people who, through his way of being, immediately upon meeting new people for the first time, had a way of projecting a feeling of trust and honesty.
Families die,
One self shall die,
Die shall Goods and Gold.
An honest name
shall never die
A name you won through your work.
Goodbye Paul
You will be missed.

I first met Paul at the Calgary Road Runners, where Linda and I became friends and continued running and walking every week for the past 23 years. Paul was an exceptional athlete, completing many Ironmen events and countless marathons. He also took great pride in finishing the basement and painting the complete interior of their home a few years back after winding down his business. The garden was immaculately cared for. He was a also tireless volunteer as a ‘White Hatter’ at the Calgary airport. What set Paul apart from everyone else though, was his positive and extroverted personality. He never let life’s setbacks get him down and instead focused his energies on helping others in their times of trial. My husband Hans (someone who rarely gives out complements) called Paul his ‘hero’, and indeed he was one. Linda and the family, as well as all of us who were his friend, have lost someone very special and will miss him enormously.
Linda, Everitt, Jordan and the whole family. Our deepest sympathies for your loss.
I met Paul in 91 or 92 at the squash club where we would regularly play for hours at a time. We quickly became close friends, and expanded our experiences beyond squash into running. We ran the 30km "Around the Bay Race" together. Paul always had some adventure planned. After moving out west we would visit on every possible occasion. Paul and I would go running on his favourite trail at Nose Hill while Linda would comfort Katie as we were new parents at the that time.
I could always count on Paul for selfless advice, on everything from fatherhood to training tips.
We watched each others' kids grow up to come wonderful adults.
Words cannot capture the sense of loss. Paul was one of a kind, who lived his life to the fullest. He will be missed but never forgotten
Dear Linda, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear husband Paul, my thoughts & prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Barb Allen ( your yoga friend)
Linda and all the family.
We were so sorry to hear of Paul's passing.
We first met Paul as his trainers for the White Hat volunteer program at the airport. On finding out that Paul's last name was the same as my maiden name, Paul always joked with me that I was his Long lost Sister from a different Mother!
Paul was an integral part of the White Hat program and all his colleagues from Thursday's shifts 4-8 & 6-10
will miss him.

Dear Linda and family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. We were so saddened to hear this shocking news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
We will always remember Paul, he brought so much happiness and funny jokes to the coffee times. We are sending big love to you all.
Much love, Tim & Elizabeth Kuechler
Dear Linda, friends and family. I was devastated to hear of Paul's death. I knew about the cancer, but not about things getting worse. Paul was everything Diane so eloquently described: fun, witty, ready to tease one, always quick in his responses....and progressive in his views. He brought so much "life"...to our Thurs. morning coffee groups...And we had a Burlington/Aldershot/Hamilton connection as I grew up in Burlington and went to university in Hamilton......Plus his volunteering as a White Hatter made me tease him about his really being a social worker....Traveller's Aid in days gone by had MSW social workers at airports...Paul's kindness and concern for others made him the perfect host at our airport. And a person whom I count as a dear friend..Today, tomorrow and days to come...will have tears flowing...And so it should be.... Love to Paul...and to all who feel the loss of this special person...Mary
I got to know Paul as a triathlete. I will always remember the sight in August 2003 when the two of us emerged simultaneously from Okanagan Lake after a 4 km swim on our first Ironman race in Penticton. His outgoing positive outlook and can do attitude always impressed me and served as an example to follow.
I wish Linda the strength to deal with this loss.

I am so sorry and heart broken to learn of Paul's passing. I have a lot of great memories of Paul. His dry sense of humor, his love of telling such detailed stories, he was a problem solver, sharing his vacation pictures and stories. Showing off his medals for competing in the Iron Man competitions. He was witty, and sharp as a tack, your couldn't get anything by him. A great volunteer who was integral in putting a great functioning Uplands board together. Never afraid to roll up his sleeves to help our community, whether it be at the Uplands Stampede breakfast, flippin pancakes. The Uplands children's Christmas party, helping with Christmas lights, and landscaping with other Uplands volunteers. He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Paul was kind enough to invite my wife and I to sit at his table while I was a White Hat rookie without a shift. My wife and I watched Linda and Paul dance all night long. RIP Paul
I will always fondly remember the day Paul met me at the Calgary airport in his White Hatter suit, and drove me around his neighborhood to show me the beautiful green fields where he did his running, and invited me in for tea and cake. Always such a wonderful host, with many stories, and a ready smile. (Sister in law Debbie Davies, Al Long’s wife)
