Obituary of Gary Marcien PARENTEAU

January 30, 1954 – Duck Lake, Saskatchewan

May 16, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

 

Gary Parenteau, beloved husband of Felicite Parenteau (nee Dumont), passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 67 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

 

Gary was born in Duck Lake, SK, on January 30, 1954. He moved to Ontario in 1987, then to Calgary, AB in 1990, and finally settled in Airdrie in 2013. Gary graduated Stobart High School in Duck Lake in 1972, and later attended Moose Jaw Technical College, completing a Red Seal in Masonry. Gary ran Triple T Masonry successfully for over forty years. He joined Corrections Canada in August of 2000, and was stationed at the Bowden Correctional Institution until he retired in 2019. Gary married Felicite Dumont on October 27, 1972, and they remained together for forty-eight years. He was a member of the Catholic Church his entire life and loved his God dearly. Gary accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of building Felicite’s and his dream home. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending time with his family and friends, as well as spending hour upon hour working in his garage on various hobbies. Gary’s favourite saying was “Work today, play tomorrow”.

 

Besides his loving wife Felicite, Gary is survived by his three sons, Trevor and Travis, both of Airdrie, AB, and Tyler (Cynthia) of Red Deer, AB; as well as his grandchildren, Dakota of Duck Lake, SK, and Aeden and Natascha of Calgary, AB. Gary is also survived by his two brothers, Rodney (Colleen) of Langham, SK, Vern (Laurie) of Dalmeny, SK; and sister Bernice Radies (Jerry), his in-laws, Maryann Parenteau, Henrietta Parenteau, Sherry Parenteau, Ron Charney, Marcia Gervais, Claire Dumont, Susan Dumont, Lucille and Leo Olheiser, Eunice and Allen Readman, and Donna and Brian Dumont; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Gary was predeceased by parents, Maxime and Delima; brothers, Julien, Lucien, Victor, Garnet, and Floyd; sisters, Salonge Smith and Lorraine Charney; mother and father-in-law, Aime and Marguerite Dumont; brothers-in-law, Don Dumont and Rod Gervais; and nephews, Eldon Radies, Blake Brown, and Brandon Dumont.

 

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Parenteau’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
