David Oliphant of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the age of 67 years.

David was born in Calgary, AB on March 2, 1954. He graduated from St. Francis High School and then continued his education at the University of Calgary, obtaining his degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a Chemical engineer at Gulf Oil (Rocky Mountain House), Norcen Energy, Caber Exploration, independent consulting and Vermillion Energy.

He was a member of the of the Knights of Columbus, he volunteered with Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, Alberta Health Services and the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing.

David accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of being an amazing family man, proud father of three daughters, grandpa to grandson Aston and husband, married to the love of his life Janet for thirty-one years.

David enjoyed golf, Flames hockey, Stamps football, travelling, camping, fishing, genealogy, skiing, classic cars, good wine and scotch. He also enjoyed music and concerts and he always kept up with the current events.

David’s most memorable vacation was when he and Janet took the Mediterranean cruise to celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary during which Dave and Jan met the pope. They also took many other amazing trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas and camping in BC at Mara Lake.

David will be most remembered for his love of family, taking such good care of his wife Janet and for his sweet, selfless and generous nature.

David is survived by his three daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie of California, Carmen and Scott Barker-Oliphant of Calgary and Andrea of Calgary; grandson Aston Allegro and his mother Elizabeth Oliphant. David is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Doug Louch of Vernon, BC and Bev and Jim Berg of Calgary; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Nancy Jenkins and his Labradoodle Lexi. David was predeceased by his wife Janet Oliphant (nee Jenkins) and his father Thomas Oliphant.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Oliphant’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Alberta.
