Obituary of Wayne SCOTT

Gordon Wayne Scott, beloved husband of Sandra Mae Scott (nee McKenzie) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 76 years, after a two-year illness.

Wayne was born in Regina, SK, on May 2, 1945, and grew up on the family farm outside Cymric, SK.

Wayne graduated from Govan High School in 1963 and moved to Regina shortly after.

Wayne married Sandra McKenzie in 1966 and began his banking career in 1967.  They started their family in Regina in 1970 and then moved to Alberta in 1978.

Wayne always enjoyed working with young people, particularly during his time volunteering with Junior Achievement in Lethbridge and working as the driver of the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation bus. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends, watching Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays games and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.

Wayne’s most memorable vacation was when he and Sandra traveled to Los Cabos, Mexico, to celebrate their 50th Anniversary combined with his youngest daughter’s wedding. Mexico was a frequent holiday destination for Wayne and a country that was very special to him.

He will be most remembered for his kind heart, friendly demeanor and his sense of humor. Wayne always had a way of making friends everywhere he went, even with the nurses and doctors that cared for him in his last months.

Besides his loving wife of fifty-four years, Sandra, Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Leanne Scott and Shannon Scott (Gaspar Gonzalez) all of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Daniel and Victoria Gonzalez, of Calgary, AB; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Marilyn Mohr, of Regina, SK and Jim Hauberg of Saskatoon, SK; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Annie-Mae Scott, his infant brother, Larry Scott, his cousin, Dale Young, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Duncan McKenzie, sister-in-law, Fran Hauberg, and many aunts and uncles.
