Obituary of Giuseppe FERRONATO

January 24, 1933 - June 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Giuseppe (Joe) Ferronato, announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, Nonno (grandfather), great-grandfather and zio (uncle) on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Joe was born in San Martino di Lupari, Padova, Italy on January 24, 1933. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Calgary, where he met and married Lucia Dalla Costa in 1954. They had two children, a son and a daughter. Joe worked for the City of Calgary Waterworks for 36 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed raising animals on his acreage, gardening, wine making, camping, fishing, playing cards and watching the Flames and Stampeders. Joe was a member of the Calgary Italian Club and also volunteered with various organizations.

Joe will be dearly missed by his wife Lucia, son Claudio, daughter Sandra, grandchildren, Alicia (John) and Tyler; and great-granddaughter Maddie. He will also be missed by his many extended family and friends in Canada and Italy.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre www.albertacancer.ca/memorial. 

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their compassionate care.
