Obituary of Kenneth (Ken) Frederick BURTON

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth (Ken) Frederick Burton announces his passing on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

Ken’s greatest source of joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Jean.  They were true partners in life and remained devoted to each other through all of life’s adventures. He also leaves his children, Kathryn, Sandra (Tim), and Neil (Vania); and grandchildren, Sean, Connor, Kearan, Scott and Sarah whom he adored and  who will miss him dearly.

Ken was a born and raised Calgarian and was proud to call Calgary home. He spoke fondly of growing up in Calgary and spending summers in Bowness with his grandparents.  Ken obtained his CA designation in 1958 and enjoyed a 31 year career with the Federal government retiring in 1991 as Chief of Audit Review. His long career brought him great satisfaction and many friends.  He and Jean enjoyed many vacations over the years – especially winter getaways to Hawaii. Ken loved dogs and welcomed many beloved pets into his family.  He also had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed attending collector car auctions and car club events with the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club and Alberta Mustangs Auto Club. Ken was also very active in the St. David’s Friendship Club and Grace Presbyterian Church. He cherished his friendships and always looked forward to getting together with his many lifelong friends.   

Ken was a man of integrity – a true gentleman with a kind and generous soul and always ready to lend a helping hand.  He will be greatly missed.  

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family thanks the staff at the Sage Hill Retirement Residence for their compassionate and thoughtful care of Ken.
