Obituary of Edna Melinda GOSBEE

February 26, 1942 - Montaque, Prince Edward Island
July 13, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Edna Melinda Gosbee (nee MacMillan) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 with her family by her side at the age of 79 years.

Edna was born on February 26, 1942 in Montaque, PEI, to parents, Shaw and Jessie MacMillan. Edna moved with the love of her life John to Kingston, ON, before settling down in Calgary, AB, where John attended medical school. She had a successful career in the banking industry before deciding to stay home with her family. She was an avid bridge player and participated in many international tournaments ultimately receiving her Life Masters status. She also enjoyed her time at the Calgary Winter Club curling and playing badminton. She loved to travel with her family, especially to Prince Edward Island, Hawaii, Arizona and California. Edna's impact on anyone who met her was enormous. Her generosity and positive energy was infectious, and her ability to fight adversity was phenomenal. Whenever in a bind, Edna was there to help in the most selfless of ways and became "mom" to many.  Even when faced with the most unthinkable terminal cancer diagnosis, she demanded treatment with her feisty optimism while battling the disease in private as she would not want to be a burden to others.

Edna leaves to mourn her husband of fifty-five years, John, daughter Jean Gosbee and her children, Ty, Jessica and Tayden; as well as grandchildren, John, Carter and Isla. She is also dearly missed by her sister Florine Sigsworth (Barry) of Alberry Plains, PEI, along with countless other family members and friends. Edna was delighted to reconnect with John Bryans of Ottawa, ON, and will be missed by John and his family. Edna was predeceased by her son George in 2017.

As per Edna's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Edna’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edna would be greatly appreciated to the George Gosbee Memorial Forest in care of the Ann and Sandy Conservation at info@crossconservation.org.
