Condolences
I considered Mike my best friend growing up. His humor and sincere friendship will never be forgotten. We had many great times and those are some of my best memories. Around Edmonton, in the Rocky Mountains and on the BC coast at Camp Malibu. Mike introduced me to these great experiences.
Mike and I both liked videography, when the subject was very new in 1997. Between Mike, Ryan Uhich and I we created some hilarious footage. From 1997 - 1999 our group of friends made some funny videos, whether it was outside, skateboarding or just being goofballs.
I created a Memorial Video of Mike showing his humor, great skateboarding and how much fun we had as friends.
If you'd like to see it you can copy and paste this into your internet browser and watch it.

I was happy to have spoken to him recently a couple times and tell him how much I valued him. He has always been so real and true and it was great to connect again.
I give my most heartfelt condolences to his parents, his brother and sister and his 2 daughters.
I really think it is so important to celebrate Mike's life and how great of a person he was.
I know I will never forget it.

Dear Family of Mike Bacon,
I had the occasional pleasure of meeting Mike at our home, especially while he, my son Kevin and Ryan were the '3 amigos" in high school. { we have an extremely entertaining music video, filmed in high school, where Mike "played" the piano ;) }.
Seeing him briefly in Calgary a few years ago, he still had the same warmth, cheerfulness and sense of humour, despite his struggles.
I'm sad along with you in losing your sweet son, a loving father and a comrade much too early. I wish for you strength and holding memories full of love.
Sincerely, Judy Bernes
When Michael was growing up, my Son Ryan and Michael were the best of buddies . It started from grade one and they remained inseparable.
It was always ….Mom can Mike come over, or…Mom can you drive me to Mikes. They were always up to something.
I remember when they were into learning magic and even set up a table at the farmer’s market and would do tricks for donations. I do recall that Micheal was shy and embarrassed doing it lol
It warmed my heart that Ryan had such a kind and gentle soul as Mike to be his best bud.
After high school the crooked road led them on different paths. Mike in Calgary and Ryan in Vancouver. Where they both started their families. We have so many wonderful memories to hold close to our hearts.
Mike will be remembered very fondly.
In 2006 Mike came with me to our family camp. While we were at the beach, I looked out and noticed my younger brother was trying to swim out to a floating dock, but couldn't make it. As he began struggling in the water, I tried to flag someone on the dock to help him. Mike swam out, as did my brother Matt. They both pulled my drowning brother to the dock. Later, as my grandmother introduced Mike to the family, she said "he saved David!!". Mike was a hero to my family.
Recently my brother Matt recounted the story to me and said, "when I swam out, I didn't know what I was doing. We were pulling each other down. Mike saved both of us." Thank you Mikey. We're all so grateful to you. We miss you so much.
